Saga of the Dragon Cult

Post by jason.richardson »

Hello fellow gamers,

I don't give reviews much attention and I generally avoid what others tell me is a "must buy". But...

If you are thinking about picking up the Saga of the Dragon Cult boxed set, do! It is freakin' amazing the way Goodman Games has linked the modules together into one epic plot.

If you are planning to start a new DCC campaign this is the way to go. I picked my copy up last Friday after work and I sat home all weekend reading it. I haven't been this excited about a campaign is about 15 years.

Great job Goodman Games! Two-thumbs way up! :)

That's high praise, Jason. I'm glad it's a good fit for your game. :)

I picked this up too... it's a great boxed set. Good choice of modules to string together into a campaign.

And last but not least, it's only $20. You can't beat that!

Yeah --- the price is pretty sweet. Almost 1984 AD&D prices. :)

I'm excited to see it put to use in some games.

Well, I'll be keeping a blog that reports each session's events. Once I have it up and running I'll post back here.

It goes without saying the blog will be full of spoilers!

Saga sounds like a great deal! I'm curious, though - are the four modules identical to what you'd get if you purchased them separately (you know, covers, inserts, etc.) or are they pared down a bit to fit in the boxed set?
I'm always looking to meet new gamers in West Central Florida (especially West Pasco)!

Nope. They are not pared down at all.

Like Harley said, they're not modified at all.

Included in the box set is a booklet that expands the plot to link each of the modules together. It also contains a map of Hadler's Gap, which is a nice addition.

I highly recommend this box set :!:

And another--I own the 4 adventures separately, as well as the linking text in PDF form (which can be purchased from RPGNow, see link below), but that doesn't lessen the enthusiasm I have for these!

So is there a pdf equivalent of the box set, or do we have to buy all 4 adventures and the linking booklet separately in pdf form?

For now, the latter. (Please correct me if I'm wrong.)

Okay, so much for keeping a blog for my Saga of the Dragon Cult campaign, but I can say that we are having a blast!

Dragon Saga PDF

Post by stripes »

The PDF is just the wrap around story, not the original adventures. Which is also why the PDF is under $10 if I recall correctly ($7 at paizo in fact).

I haven't read the Saga PDF very closely yet, but what I have read makes me think it is worth far more then the $7 I payed. I was already running some players through DCC2, so the timing was good for me & it is great that I got to buy something that didn't include DCC2 again.
