Hello !

When a wizard begins (level 1), does he necessarly have a Patron (to get his spells) ?

Thanks, and merry Christmas

"Necessarily" no. The Wizard could start with a Patron if he starts with Invoke/Bond, but even then maybe not.

Comes down to what the player and Judge work out. The player may need to roll for their Bond "during" the game, perhaps to make any Spellburn more relevant.

But if starting with the Patron in place works for the Judge and the player, sure, why not?

Personally, I like the idea of having both wizards and clerics beginning without any sort of patron. Part of the fun of the campaign game comes from deciding if/when and how you will take the plunge into servitude.

I do not believe so, as 0-level starting characters have no class, and hence no patron. That said, a judge can run their game as they see fit.
