Re: Appendix N X-plorers

Sweet. Will it be compatible with vanilla (whatever that is) DCC RPG? I'd be curious how you take on Mighty Deeds , Fumbles and Crits.

But looking forward to some ray-guns and interplanetary space travel.

Re: Deed actions that would insta-kill an enemy

If I remember correctly the rules mention that Mighty Deeds can not be used to cause greater damage to an enemy. In this case the deed is not about killing the enemy, but pushing. It's not the deed what kills him, but the environment. It really depends on the group. You don't want it to get too che...

Re: Stereotype Rules

I also have always preferred the 'got swept away to a fantasy world' to the 'born and raised in a fantasy world' storyline. To me, having the characters be from the fantasy world sort of takes the fantastic and makes it mundane. Transporting them there from the real world makes everything fantastic...

Re: Stereotype Rules

I love the concept of this, even through it doesn't fit the traditional fantasy setting. Love the chart and the fact that it can help generate some characters with real personality. Is there an actual "Save Steven" adventure out there, or is this just a homebrew game session? My game, and...

17) Slut – Roll 2d6 + 6 for Stamina  Yup, I just had to do it. All those stereotypes, including sluts, are all over Todd and the Book of Pure Evil. And yes, it's available on Netflix Instant Play. Watch it. It's schlocky but funny, cruel, rude, profane and disgusting while being about high sch...

Re: DCC Boxed Set

It wasn't designed to be, and it didn't stay that way. Painting it as such is just incorrect. Just because it was your first intro to the game, doesn't mean that's where it was designed. Nope, sorry, I showed you a direct quote from the 1977 D&D rulebook, which explicitly states that it is a &q...

Re: DCC Boxed Set

Uh...except for one problem. The edition that became "Basic" D&D was already designed by that point. The 1977 edition was little more than a rules clean up and re-editing. It was never DESIGNED to be a gateway game when it was created. Just because they later created an Advanced versi...

Hah! No way, I don't collect. I use my books, and write in them and everything. Plus, I'm broke. I think beginner sets make better tools to teach the game, I like teaching the game.

But like I said last time. If you want to spend money on a beginner level game, be my guest, but I don't have to want to, and I don't. I'm sorry if that translates to you that I hate the idea at a molecular level...I don't...I just have no use for it. Sorry, my original reply [http://www.goodman-ga...

Re: DCC Boxed Set

Is DCC for beginners or those who have never played? It doesn't seem so. In the end it's their game, so they can do what they wish, I just stated it wouldn't be something I would buy, and I'd rather have supplements and modules. Sorry. If you want to buy a beginner's box more power to you, but I do...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!

I have been playing D&D since 1978 when I was introduced to it in middle school. I started with Holmes Basic and spent most of the '80s playing AD&D. I stopped playing D&D after 2e came out. I spend the next ten years or so playing GURPS. When 3e came out in 2000, I started playing D&am...

I'd much rather they produced more supplements and modules than the same rules I already have. Sorry, it's a neat idea but nothing I'd be interested in buying. Agreed. I remember the TSR era boxed sets but prefer hardback books... especially my gold foil DCC hardback. 8) Yup! Got me one of those to...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!

My problem with CoC is that ... investigators aren't expected to beat the bad guys. I'd disagree with this, based on what I've played and run over the last 2+ decades... You absolutely can't beat the Mythos entities themselves, but you can forestall the activities of mortals who act in the interest...

My party is pushing up past 4th level and I can't find any modules that have been released past 4th level for DCC RPG. Beyond the Black Gate is a level 5 DCC adventure that may be of interest to you. I found it to be very entertaining and enjoyed playing it a lot. I agree with reverenddak in doing ...

Have you seen Todd and the Book of Pure Evil, a Canadian TV show? Same concept! And it's awesome. It's totally a small party of High-school kids dealing with an evil in their high-school. People die all the time in the most gruesome ways. Todd, eventually acquires a sword, his buddy Curtis has a fak...

Re: Converting 3rd edition Skills and Feats to DCC RPG

Keep the PCs the same. Don't convert them. Convert the rest on the fly. For combat, since NPCs and Monsters don't play by the same rules they could easily have "unique" abilities that mechanically function just like 3e Feats. Use their stats AS-IS, it'll be fine. Wing the feats if you dont...

Re: Durability and Power: comparing Normal Man vs DCC Charac

TheNobleDrake's thinking that 3rd is about right. 4th, for sure. Due to the swingy nature of DCC RPG, a 1st-Level Warrior is about 1d3 as powerful as a 1st-level 0e D&D Figher. By 6th level they're Super-heroes, and should be the right-hand man of kings, and lords or barons of their own domains....

Re: DCC Boxed Set

I think DCC RPG could use a good "Basic Set", I've mentioned it a few times before (here and G+). It could go until 3rd level. Hell, my campaign of 1.5 years has only 1 (one) 3rd level character, everyone else are from 0 to 2. It would only need the more popular 1st (maybe 10-15 of them) a...

Co-signed, the artwork is gorgeous. Well done Geoffrey. I'm starting with sailors on the starless sea and taking them into the Isle of the Unknown from there. Re: Anyone running LOTFP modules with DCC??

I don't think Dark cauliflower is talking about Carcosa when he mentions 'pictures of mens erect weiners being in the books.' That's obvious now. Each his own, I guess. It's a great book, and so is the LotFP rpg. Though I'd make the distinction between the context of said wieners, being that a medu...

We're talking about Carcosa, not the game LotFP.
