DCC in Colorado Springs, The Cold Lake Campaign
Dungeon Crawl Classics, The Cold Lake Campaign, began at The Yellow King, in Colorado Springs, this Sunday 5/19/19. In probably the worst funnel ever written all the characters survived. The Festival of Butterflies is held every Summer during the strawberry harvest in the town of Marksburg. Marksbur...

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
to minimize wizard dominance I restricted spellburn to stamina only and a system shock check when doing so.

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
How does a d30 make things worse? I bought DCC over a year ago and was thinking of using it to start my new campaign. After reading through it I loved the hell out of it but it had a number of holes IMO. What you’ve been describing was one of them. It presents itself has far more deadly yet there’s ...

Re: Let's Talk About Spellburn
I have a suggestion that you’ll probably think won’t work but I’d try introducing a d30 roll for spellcasting. I think you’ll find it changes things quite a bit.

Clerics healing broken bones and poison
Could someone explain the mechanic of how healing a broken bone or poison works differently than simply healing HP?

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Colorado Springs, Colorado. It's 1983, I'm in 5th grade and hanging out at my friend Tim's house playing Jungle Hunt on Atari. Tim's older brother Eric comes in and makes us turn the TV down so he and his weird long haired buddy can play the same game that I saw Kip from Bosom Buddies play on TV. T...

Kickstarter idea
The concept behind DCC lends itself well behind the old game Paranoia and the Cartoon show Samurai Jack. I think either of these would be good Kickstarter ideas.

Re: Cover art analysis / criticisms / unsolicited suggestion
I like the cover art as is. The door is the doorway to a new game and when you open the door aka open the book you see all hell breaking loose. There's more there than what you think, if you stop to think about it.

Magic users
The book states that magic users first level spells represent years of study yet a first level player just survived a funnel as a peasant and has now picked that class.
This is not a complaint I am just curious how other Judges have met this odd position?

Re: Ran my first adventure
Ill fated peasant- I designed my funnel to act in two parts. Any 0 level character surviving both would automatically move on to first level. I like the funnel concept and so do my current players but after a couple nights play as peasants they're ready to move on and see what they can do with playe...

Re: Ran my first adventure
Session 2 went well. I intend to use the funnel I wrote to hold several DCC events here in COS to try and spread the game locally. I really like how most people haven't memorized everything about the game so you can have an "old school" atmosphere game where everything is new. Play testing...

Ran my first adventure
wrote my own funnel adventure to start a campaign of DCC for the family. I'd like to say with pride I did good. They promptly went around the house making sure all the doors and windows were shut and locked 15 min into the adventure.

Re: Mighty deeds silly question
I understand the point you're making but where's the line between allowing players to decide whatever they want and the Judges role as Judge? I get it, not to read the Crit's verbatim, but simply allowing players to make up whatever they want negates the need to even bother playing the game.
