Re: Are Psionics to be like DCC Magic?
I understand that it sounds cool and everything but I'm not paying $80.00 for one page of psionics and a campaign setting I don't want to play in. $.50 might be a better price for its mind stuff.

Appendix N Video games!
guyz,
I've been playing the Witcher, which Im liking quite a bit. It seems like it would be a good Appendix N book to me, which got me to thinking. What video games out there do you think are Appendix N material?

Re: DCC related stuff I got for XMas...
that's right. Not Dwarfs though. cthulhuguy, to get back to your question way back, I don't think that the Broken Sword was made out of iron. Here's my simple reasoning: 1. Illrede the Troll king was killed by the Broken Sword. 2. As Scafloc was choping him up with the sword, there didn't seem to be...

Re: DCC related stuff I got for XMas...
I almost think that the Elfs intolerance of iron in DCC is too weak and needs to be nastier. When you get to Three Hearts and Three Lions you might see what I mean. I'm thinking that we need to move beyond even amping it up to a +1 to damage elves with iron but creating a iron critical hit table fo...

Re: DCC related stuff I got for XMas...
one thing also to consider is if the "White Christ" should play a part as well. In both Anderson books, the "White Christ" appears as something that has awful consequences for creatures of Faerie. Do we want a "White Christ" god in the game that can be used against the ...

I try to look at magic as not some nifty science formula that you can learn by going to wizard school but as a price that must be paid to have. You can only give so much of yourself to magic. After a point there's nothing to trade. Ha ha ha ha!

no Im not going to buy the stupid thing. If your going to promote your product as something that tells you what other products are you had better tell the truth about things. There is no way he could have read the DCC book and think there are only 5 levels in the book. No way!

Re: Character age
in the DCC book, on page 391 result 28 there is "the wizening". It gives a simple way to deal with aging, I'd recommend this over the complicated stuff. The whole book is full of little insights like this that the index doesn't reference. Don't go grabbing the ol dnd books when you have th...

it doesn't even sound like the author has read any of these books. How can you screw up this significant details on at least 2 of the books? I know the project sounds like a good thing but it looks like someone is doing an OSR money grab to me. If you can't explain the damn stuff right why should we...

is the whole issue dedicated to the module or only 10 pages or so? If its a megadungeon that looks cheap at 5.00.

Re: More spells? Would you support a SpellBook for Kickstart
the spells seem like their conglomerations of dnd spells sometimes. Each spell check range moves you into a different spell within the spell. I have to go over em again, probably a misperception.

Re: DCC related stuff I got for XMas...
hey cthulhuman, since you read The Broken Sword what's your take on the reforged sword in the story? I don't think its quite like stormbringer where it eats souls. But maybe a vorpal blade? Notice how easily it chops of limbs and such? I think it might have an intelligence which we aren't aware of. ...

I liked Three Hearts and Three Lions too. Got that for Xmas. Probably inspired by someone saying it was great. The Elves aren't very nice in it as well. Good stuff.

Re: Please review my Monk class
yeah... the mixing stuff up can be a mind boggler. I just finished Three Hearts and Three Lions and that went from WW2 to a place called the Middle World. Fighting Nazis to fighting trolls! There's good stories to be had if you can play that the people are out of place in the world. Having the...

Re: Please review my Monk class
I've always had mixed feelings about the monk. It never made sense to me that someone is going to be able to use their fist to beat through plate mail armour. I start to get visions of glowing hands with a fire trail behind them as the swing into combat. If I were going to have a fist fighter in the...

maybe we will see one in the annual? This is one cool patron/giant fungus thing. I must ask, is not the spell in which he is mentioned not a patron spell that we have not recognized?
I have to dig into the monster section later on, but I'd assume the shroomen are his spawn or servants?

Re: Are Psionics to be like DCC Magic?
As far as I know the idea for Mind Flayers came from a cover of Burrowers Beneath. Psionics has its roots in science-fiction, but during "Appendix N times" there wasn't such a strict separation of genres like now. For psionics, I would steal and tinker with Carcosa's system, it's pretty e...

Re: Are Warriors not to use scrolls?
yeah, I went over the write magic spell and the scroll creation process in the magic items section. In both cases it seems that scrolls that have bonuses or are automatic are a rare occurance. In write magic, its the last 2 entries in the spell check list. And were talking about mid to upper level 3...

Re: Thieves and Patrons
that'd work. Even more radical, have an appendage turn into a raven head. Could replace a fist, foot, weiner, head, ear, nose, etc.... black feathers sprout on the butt. Whenever the character speaks a raven squak(or something) comes out of his mouth. This does not replace normal speech but compleme...

Re: Thieves and Patrons
I'd make him wear a raven mask! That or a raven codpiece. You may think its crazy, but read Viriconium and you'll see how cool masks are in a fantasy setting. It's jarring at first but you'll eventually get into it.
