Re: Stomp the typo!

No, that's actually correct."I hight" is an ancient way of introducing yourself, especially if you were a knight or nobleman.

Re: Thieves and Reading Scrolls

Eeyow! I remember thinking about that, but I guess I never mentioned it. I figured thieves needed to rely on the class bonus alone to succeed.

Re: Unarmored Warriors

I rule that fighting defensively is a Deed. You get the number rolled on the Deed die as your AC bonus, but that means you need to succeed on your deed. I'd rather see it done like this, for a couple reasons. Fighting defensively is still active. Making it a deed represents that. Second, deeds are a...

*Joseph said we can talk about the full release! Well, keep talking. Seconded. Keep on talking. We want more. More! Especially on characters/classes/combat! Well, if you take a look at the beta classes including the revised cleric and thief, you've pretty much got it. The zero level profe...

Re: Classic Modules

And hers a good point to the Judge struggling with adventure ideas. Of course, the best thing do is just purchase a Dungeon Crawl Classics Adventure from the fine folks at Goodman Games, available right here on this website. Barring that, though. If there's something the PCs want, make an adventure ...

Re: paper quality

DCC RPG will be printed on 70# uncoated offset. That is a durable, heavyweight paper stock near the upper end of what most printers keep in stock. It is not the "slick" type paper that you see used in color products; it is a more textured paper. When you read RPG products that feel like t...

Nope. This is what happens when you fail to cast spells too many times.

My appendix N exposure is mostly of of the public library, so I have nothing to show. Right now, it's Poul Anderson's The Broken Sword . A must read. So much of this got into DCC RPG. Witches cavorting with patrons, elves who can't touch iron, but drenched in magic, goblins, trolls, curses, battles,...

Hammer Horror! Peter Cushing's Van Helsing is practically the prototype for the adventuring cleric.

Re: Classic Modules

I was wondering if anyone here is going to use DCC Rpg to run any old classical adventures like, for example, The Temple of Elemental Evil, Bone Hill, Castle Amber, Tomb of Horrors etc. I don't have any specific plans but I am sure I will run the classics with DCC eventually. And it should be easy ...

Re: How would you judge the following

We got a response straight from the word of Goodman! Here's an important point, though. In DCC we need to get away from the idea that Agility/Dexterity is the prime score for thieves. In DCC it's definitely luck, and judges need to encourage thieves to try things that depend on luck and go ahead and...

Re: A few questions

My understanding is that the DCC module line going forward will be for DCC RPG, but I don't think the older modules will be reissued. Deeds are a great way around a huge list of complex combat feats. In fact, that's how I explain them. A successful deed is like a 3.x feat going off, or everything th...

Seriously, I've got a game starting up this weekend, and I've been doing oneshots at various local RPG events for a few weeks now. I'm really trying here! @Finarvyn: any more suggestions for attracting players?

I've run DCC RPG in public for three weekends straight. Put up my Hugh poster at my table every time. I just haven't really been paying too much attention to other message boards. Got the job done, though.

Re: Alternative to "3d6, in order"

Well, I still gotta be old school on this. "Arrange as desired", is the beginning of characters builds and optimization. Whatever dice method, assigning scores in order is a must. For funnel characters, 3d6 in order is a must. Starting higher, I usually let a player roll 2d6+6 per score. F...

Re: Level Limits

If the judge has done his job right, the thief will have used up a good portion of his luck before ever reaching the dragon. Even then, a thief would need to be a decent level for his luck dice to be large enough to be significant, and should probably need to spend some improving the to hit roll. Un...

Re: Level Limits

If there was a duel between a Level 4 Fighter and a Level 4 Thief, I would put my money on the Thief. Isn't this the extreme opposite? Surely a level 4 fighter should best a level 4 thief? Yes, in a duel, facing one another 20 feet apart in a closed 30 foot square room underground: the thief is toa...

Re: Level Limits

I think the rpg.net review does have a few good points...which is why we fixed all that in the final rules. :) Brilliant news! Whilst I remember, is the magic Vancian, fire and forget? I'm sure I've asked this but it's 6:24am here and my mind hasn't quite woken up yet :) It's somewhat D&D "...
