Re: Multi-Classing
I would be more inclined to mix and match class features as I see fit than come up with a rule for doing this stuff. I often find players don't want the whole class they're branching into anyway. So, for example, a Warrior who wants to learn magic will stunt his deeds die (the die only increases eve...

Re: Burn Luck to Increase Damage?
I don't see why you shouldn't be able to burn luck on an MDoA roll. The Luck mechanic is there to be used in exactly that sort of situation. Remember, it's permanent burn for a warrior. Some might come back at the end of the module, but maybe not. I would not allow burning Luck on HP rolls, though....

Re: Burn Luck to Increase Damage?
Hit Points are not a roll in the sense that your character is aware of them. ...interesting. I don't think of character being aware of any rolls. I don't even necessarily think the rolls reflecting the 'skill level' of a character, as much as it might be the 'chance that something does or doesn't h...

Re: Burn Luck to Increase Damage?
You may burn Luck to add to a roll. Any roll. Damage is a roll. QED. That said, I don't think a Deed Die roll or your Hit Point die roll can be improved by Luck... This is correct. Deeds need to be natural, like critical hits. Hit Points are not a roll in the sense that your character is aware of t...

Next Batch of Modules
First, let me just say that this year has been the most fun I've had playing games since I cast my first D20. DCC RPG has become my favorite game for fantasy adventures. Prior to snagging the rulebook and Sailors on the Starless Sea , I had never purchased or run a single module in my twelve year ga...

Re: So GG is not putting out more DCC rulebooks?
I only own the core PF books and allow nothing else. I think I downloaded Ultimate Magic for PFR because I wanted a feat. Otherwise, core-only. To anyone asking GG to release more stuff, I highly recommend you sit down and put your own stuff together. You'll notice the longest part of the process is...

Minor Magic Item: Asmodeus' Coin
Asmodeus' Coin Minted on one of the seven levels of Hell, this coin is both a boon and a curse to anyone who comes upon it. Anyone who looks at it can see it is different immediately. Slightly larger, it seems to emit its golden sheen like a torch casts light. A player who spends their time examini...

Re: Selling loot...
Selling loot is boring unless it has plot significance. That being said, unloading a cache of gems to a Hamlet is unrealistic, and I would certainly limit how much they can sell. Remember, most people outside of major cities will not have much in the way of coinage. They may, however, be willing to ...

How about calling it a Berzerker instead?
And I agree about not getting too granular about the classes. For example, I fail to see the need for a Ranger class when all could be accomplished by allowing a player to take a Hunter or Trapper occupation and giving them a pet.

Re: The Time of the Orcs is Here
Okay, I finished my first campaign using the Orc. You can read full impressions here . The issue to me is how quickly Rage builds with these rules. In my final encounter, the Orc has built up +9 in bonuses, and gained an extra attack and +8 to all attack and damage rolls. He killed half of a room fu...

Re: Limited Edition Metal Covers!
What say the group? Do you keep stuff around, or sell off things you no longer really use? The latter. I've routinely sold off what I didn't use in favour of what I did for years and rarely had any regrets. Even when I did, the money I've made back from getting rid of extraneous stuff has still ens...

Re: How do you interpret the chaotic alignment?
I separate morality from them. Good and evil are up to the subjective moral codes of the character, kingdom, or deity they follow. I explain it like this to my players: Lawful means you support and uphold the way the world is organized. Chaotic means you are seeking to actively undermine that order....

Re: Please take a look at my Half-orc class
That was not clear, I apologize. Mighty Deeds is essentially a fiat feat/combat maneuvers system. Off the top of my head, they include: blinding, disarm, trip, pushback, and precision attacks, as well as offensive, defensive, and rallying maneuvers. The book also specifies that situation appropriat...

What I've done for people new to the game is hand out those mini-character sheets, 3d6 and tell them to roll the stats for all of their characters at once. When the entire group is finished, I do professions. Have your players call out their rolls one at a time and circle around the table until all ...

But I agree with bitflipr about the Brutish Deeds. More importantly, they lack the fluid quality that makes the Mighty Deed system work, in my opinion. I don't want my players to have to spend too much time figuring out what they need to roll in order to succeed. Its the same as the standard deeds ...

Lovecraft is not a good writer. I mean this purely on an aesthetic level. His ideas are good, he knows how to set a mood, but his characters are flat and he can't write dialogue.

I didn't want to be the first to respond because I posted an Orc not too long ago. I like that your Orcs have tusks. Re: Three Things I Don't Love About DCC
Using Hit Points makes it too easy for them to recover. Burn a few HP, Cleric heals, spells goes wild, burn a few points, Cleric heals, spell goes wild etc. Yes, but as the opening post notes: "...rule that only natural healing can bring those lost points back..." And also, as stated in t...
