Makes sense. I appreciate your perspective and taking the time to give us the explanation (even if I'm not fond of the net result). :)

One good thing is that hopefully many more people will switch to C&C now and make it worth it for Joe to do more products related to C&C. Now that we hear more about it though, I think the opposite is more likely to happen. 4e is supposed to be reducing the amount of DM prep work needed and...

If you're are truly thinking of a switch back to 1E, you might also want to check out Castles & Crusades. I *love* the DCC series very much and have played a few which I converted 'on the fly' with C&C. 1E and 2E modules are even easier to do this. As a bonus, there have been 3 DCC's that h...

Re: D&D versus C&C

So, since I love learning about new game systems anyway and since so many people around these parts talk up C&C like it was role-playing Nirvana, let's educate those of us (like me) who have no clue what C&C is and don't want to spend the cash on something that might turn out to be a waste ...

Re: Which really are Classics?

If you have a copy of 51.5 (the Free RPG Day module), I'd suggest that. Its a great read, and is short enough for a single night (I think). It is going to be the inaugural adventure in my very-soon-to-start C&C game. Cool, are you going to start the PCs at 1st level? The module, "Sinister ...

Re: Which really are Classics?

Hi guys, I'm planning on running a one-shot adventure for a group of friends during our Gencon Stay one night, and I'm really considing a Dungeon Crawl Classic. Which would you consider a GREAT one to play? Level isn't really an issue, they'll bring whatever level PC I tell them. If you have a copy...

The question is, would they cancel the OGL? It's theirs, they could pull it if they wanted to, but I don't think it has hurt them, so why not update it and continue...? As far as I understand it - and I'm not a lawyer, nor did I stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night - they can't really cancel th...

I'm about to start a C&C campaign set in the Wilderlands, using primarily DCC and old 1E modules. I'm starting with 35A and 51.5 to get the group's feet wet, likely set somewhere around Lenap, and then will play it from ear from there.

C&C is a great choice. Much simpler than D20, and all you need is the C&C PHB, which you can get from Amazon for under $14, and typically from your LGS (if they carry it) for around $20. For the most part, the conversion to C&C is pretty easy. Usually you just end up ignoring about half ...

Nowhere near as innovative as None the Wiser's, I'm getting ready to start a new C&C campaign, in the Wilderlands, using primarily DCC modules. I chose the Wilderlands because of its Sword and Sorcery feel (moreso than the Aereth, which I strongly considered), and will be making a few house rule...

I was actually going to order a few more modules this weekend, I would be happy to purchase an extra copy of Talons and Sunken Ziggurat for you while I'm ordering, and do my part to help finance this work. Its really cool. :) Also, to use these game aids...

Yeah, me three. I'd happily contribute to see more visual aids like this. There are some folks on the WWG boards that have used Sketchup, but I've never seen it used like this, or as well as this.

Wow. Great stuff.

Thanks again, great (and timely!) replies. I think I'll go pickup the Saga PDF. I do still have my initial question that I'm not quite sure if Harley answered in his first response or not. Are there any plans for releasing smaller scale versions of the 3 big GM maps that were in DCC35? (Even just po...

Harley, Excellent, many thanks for the response. Are the maps in the Saga of the Dragon Cult (PDF or boxed) maps of the entire world, or just a portion? Are they the same one/ones that are coming in Whiterock, or are they different? It looks like the boxed set contains the modules (which I already h...

Smaller Maps for DCC35

I purchased DCC35 earlier this week as a possible candidate as the game world for a C&C or Savage Worlds campaign, and so far I'm loving it. My only complaint is the lack of smaller reference maps. While I love the big maps (I really do like the style and the departure from the norm for large sc...
