Re: A few questions

We're in a Pathfinder game right now, and I'm quite fond of feats. Will there be anything in DCC that resembles them?

I'm talking about when you go up in level you choose a power/feat/advantage/talent or something.

Thanks.

Re: A few questions

Why did they leave out the Ranger class? If you want a ranger, I wrote one up for a Pathfinder game that I converted to DCC a while back: DCC Ranger You could use it as-is, or as a starting point for designing your own. I have some other stuff I made for DCC on this page: DCC RPG Resources Hopefull...

Re: A few questions

I hear you, and I understand about the class niche protection. But I tend to look at it like this; adventurers are 'adventurers' after all. Sure some (thief) are much better than others (cleric) and performing certain actions (lock picking), but these are a special bunch, a cut above the rest, and t...

Re: A few questions

What do you think of these skill check house rules: Class Based Skill Actions If the action being attempted falls under the jurisdiction of the character’s class (for example, a warrior looking to choose the best place on the field of battle for an ambush), add the character’s level to the d20 roll....

Re: A few questions

Don't get me wrong, I'm old school through and through. I first 'delved' 31 years ago (mad!). It's going to be a refreshing change to 3.X.

I'd say this though is required reading: Old School

Heartily recommended.

Now to do away with the thief and cleric

Re: A few questions

Skills are in page 52-53 in the BETA rules. They done ad-hoc. There arent any formal skills like in 3x-4e. They're basically just d20 style ability checks, -4 if the task is unrelated to your character's background. DC 10 is the base, 15 if the task is tough and DC 20 if the task is really hard. Pe...

Re: A few questions

Thanks all for the replies How does the game handle skills? Magic apart, can anyone try anything or are some skill attempts only available to certain skills? For example, could my Warrior roll to appraise the value of a gem? What would a Dwarf roll if he attempted to bluff a guard? Could a Wizard at...

Re: Level Limits

I honestly don't mind that my Thief characters can burn off 13 points of Luck in one go and kill a dragon outright with +13 dice of damage. Thieves have always been "wildcard" characters to me, and pulling a trick like that out of your hat is pretty wildcard. That's a bit over the top for...

Re: A few questions

Does rolling for damage follow the exact same rules as 3.x/4.0 or is it tweaked in some/any way?

Re: A few questions

How do you create a character when a character of a current adventuring group dies? I'm assuming you don't create another bunch of '0' levellers.

Re: A few questions

I've got Paizo's 'Kingmaker' path as well. I'm thinking DCC could fuel that too.

Re: A few questions

Yup, so far all the noises I'm hearing are very encouraging. I'm old school (whatever that really means) and I've not been so stoked about running a game for a long time.

Hurry up April I say.

Re: A few questions

Good news, thanks

If they do the Aereth rejig, I hope they don't use the grey shade background, made it really difficult to read.

Re: Level Limits

I think the rpg.net review does have a few good points...which is why we fixed all that in the final rules. :) Brilliant news! Whilst I remember, is the magic Vancian, fire and forget? I'm sure I've asked this but it's 6:24am here and my mind hasn't quite woken up yet :) It's somewhat D&D "...

A few questions

Ok the more I read about this game the more I fall in love with it. It drips atmosphere and I really like what's been done with the rules. I have a few questions. What's the default setting for DCC, is there going to be one? When is the hard copy going to be released? Will DCC be supported by DCC mo...

Re: Level Limits

If there was a duel between a Level 4 Fighter and a Level 4 Thief, I would put my money on the Thief. Isn't this the extreme opposite? Surely a level 4 fighter should best a level 4 thief? Dice apart, I'm very interested in this game, I believe GG put out some very good material and look forward to...

Re: Level Limits

Ok thanks for that. I have another question, it was posted in one of the rpg.net reviews. I enjoyed the two reviews over on rpg.net, but I was concerned with the following text: I think Goodman's magic mechanic is really intriguing and fun, but the fun would wear off quickly. It's really aimed to pl...

Level Limits

Hello

I noticed in the Beta rulebook that levels only went as far aa 5. Is this going to change when the rulebook is officially released?
