Re: Abuse of Runic Alphabet
Bending things like this fall into the '+2 or greater magic drawing horrible things like flies' category. ;) I'm mean, if someone did this in a DCC movie, we'd all be shouting 'don't do it!' at the screen. Like in the Two Towers movie when Theoden sneers "Is this all you have to conjure Saruman...

Re: Treasure by level question...
With extra funds (beyond that needed to upgrade gear), I like to get a bit 'meta': introducing a 'like Conan, you blow virtually everything you've gained on riotous living between adventures" mechanic. This sounds capricious, but it accurately reflects the kind of lifestyle most adventuring typ...

Re: All good things must ecentually come to an end
As a youngster, Summer was the season of gaming. But as the years rolled on, and cars and girls entered the picture, for some reason my friends weren't as interested in 18 hour marathon gaming sessions packed together in a funky-smelling teen mob. ;) As an adult, with family activities and vacation,...

Some very nice one's in the mix, including the awesome spell misfire pic and the peasants attacking the skeleton from the rulebook.

Re: My First Time!
I think the most important thing as a judge is to just have fun. Your enthusiasm and playfulness in the middle of the swirling chaos that is the funnel will do more to create a fun environment than anything else. You'll likely be dealing with more characters than you've ever judged before, so do wha...

Re: Ennie nominations
Self-nominate in the sense that one fills out a form to say "Hey, I have something that was created this year that you can consider." Then the judges go through the entire list of submitted items and nominate the stuff that will actually be voted on. (The list of 'nominees'.) So not everyt...

Folks are interesting, aren't they? I know it's difficult, but you can't take silliness personally: you did everything right. Not that I'd ever really game with someone I had to worry about, (cons and demos are different, of course...) but I'll likely be adding the ability at some point to optionall...

Re: Questions about the zero level funnel
Most funnels work through gradual attrition as the mob moves toward a clear goal - so the threats (in general) grow more focused as the adventure goes on since you assume the mob is getting smaller and smaller. In that regard, each individual encounter is not terribly important, it's the cumulative ...

Re: DCC question?
Oh, I thought he meant 4-5 characters ! Ignore my comment. :) (And yes, most of the funnel adventures have optional replacement characters sprinkled about the place at logical points, and it's always worked pretty seamlessly for me in my sessions. If you're designing your own adventures, it's usuall...

Re: DCC question?
If you're starting with a smaller group of just 4-5 characters, it might be easier to begin at first level. 0-level characters are mainly designed to die in droves in a funnel adventure since they are so vulnerable, but it's fun because you always have another character on hand. Replacement characte...

Awesome Jose! Thanks for sharing.
That's so cool to see someone do the layout in dungeon walls, and I love the hen meeting its demise at the hands of the purple slime.

Re: Limited edition/availabilty
I'd have happily pre-ordered two more modules + the Well of the Worm, but it'd have set me back $30 for the three modules, $20 more for shipping two of them, and another $10 to ship Well of the Worm later. $60 in total for three modules just wasn't a price I could justify. I can wholly understand t...
