Re: Why I'm now writing for DCC
One way I hope to support DCC RPG back is by buying product. If I wasn't sold on the Frawgs module before, I certainly am now that I've gotten to hear more about your background and gaming philosophy. Thanks, Finarvyn. In the end my philosophy is pretty simple: write the kind of adventures you'd li...

Why I'm now writing for DCC
I originally posted this on Dec 23, 2011 over at the Thick Skull Adventures blog , but I figured I'd have a much wider and interested audience here. Cross posting with permission. --- Happy Holidays, Thick Skull Adventure fans! I know it’s been a while since I made a blog update, but that does not m...

Re: Tricking players knowledge in favour of characters knowl
I like how DCC is encouraging the "describe the monster, don't tell what it is" mentality. I think that's just a great DM'ing practice in general. I think where the problem comes in is when the player's start metagaming with something like "Oh, skeletons, we need to immediately put aw...

Social media tags: #DCC? #DCCRPG?
Hey there, when doing posts about the new game in social networks like Twitter and Google Plus, what are people prone to use? I've been using #DCC and #RPG but wondering of #DCCRPG would be more friendly or delivery more consistent results in searches. Curious on others thoughts?

Re: One thing I would like to see...
Well now I just feel long-winded. Well, remember that it's a different age and publishers are catering to a different audience. A monster stat-block used to fill up one line of text of a two-column module but now it takes up several inches of space. Flavor text used to be short and infrequen...

Re: One thing I would like to see...
One thing to consider is that good modules don't need to be really long. The Giants modules were all about 16 pages each, if memory serves me correctly. The important thing is to set up an interesting situation and figure out a few key encounters. Most of the rest of the modules can be quite generi...

Re: One thing I would like to see...
The modules I'm writing now is a series very much a series of modules that can be enjoyed standalone or as a longer campaign arc (similar to Giants/Drow series) I suppose the bad part is due to my Real Job I'm writing them about 1 per year, but I'm hoping to increase my productivity to about 1 every...

Re: Purple Sorcerer Games: The Sunken City Starting Adventur
Hey I first have to thank you for the DCC character generator! When I play with new folks, I typically make them roll up 2 or 3 characters to get a feel for how it's done, and then we head to your generator. Thanks so much! I think you've done a really good job with the art direction and i'm looking...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo
I think this shows great promise. Ravenloft (the module) was one of my favorites and the gothic horror/Hammer horror genre in general is so ripe for role-playing. I'm looking forward to the release.

Re: Alternate EXP Award Method (XP)
I'm currently toying with implementing a simpler XP method in for one of the modules I'm producing and I'm looking for some feedback. For the 0-level module, I'm basically going to say: If you make through this module, surviving players will have advanced from 0 to 1st. That is consistent with some ...

0-level play test report (San Jose, CA)
Took 4 players through the funnel creation and an adventure last night. They had a total of ten PC's between them. Only house-rule we made is 1hp characters got their hp rerolled (but there were several 2 hp characters.) at the end of the adventure only 3 had survived, But the players had a ball. We...

"Portal Under The Stars" for 0-level quirk
Hey there, Not sure if there's some quirkiness in the writing of the DCC Starter Adventure or my misunderstanding the 0-levels rules. The PutS module opens with that it should be played with "15-20 0-level characters". Assuming we rollup a clan of characters for this and then enter the fir...
