Re: Starting wizard (and elf) spells --> roll d30?
I always do d24+INT modifier and I move the patron spells (bond, invoke, *patron spell*) to the end. I like to be the arbiter of patron spells. Elves get bond and invoke automatically, so they can roll a d24 and if they end up with enough INT and a lucky roll, maybe they get another patron combinati...

God-Seed Celebration...
Hey guys -- The God-Seed Awaken has made it to Copper at RPGNow, so in celebration, you can pick up the soft cover book with the PDF for only $10. The PDF by itself is priced at at tasty $4.99. This is a 3rd Level adventure inspired by the Philip Jose Farmer book: The Stone God Awakens. We've had so...

Re: Diappointment with DCC Annoucements
I would add my own opinion on this -- This is a DiY game. And it doesn't have to be difficult. Straight conversion of any d20-based resource can typically be done on the fly at the table. Other than setting the right tone with treasure/magic items, this is what I do: Monsters -- There are thousands ...

Re: B2 The Keep on the Borderlands
Should be pretty simple -- I think all the bad guys are in the Core Book. Depends on whether you want a D&D-esque approach to treasure and magic, at that point.

Re: What does Google have that these boards doesn't?
I use G+ because I'm interested in several different OSR games, running an in-person DCC game, and playing in several online games. It seems to be a natural meeting place with all the tools I need. I agree with Raven -- finding old posts is impossible, but other than that, it collects all the creati...

Re: Gencon update on the Annual question
The Dark Master said that there is a table of contents for the "Annual". I really am hoping to get more DCC RPG support for the gods of Aereth. Please give them the full DCC RPG treatment, including dogma, sacrifices, disfavor, and sinful use of power. Thanks! Aereth? That is a dead campa...

Re: Forgive me, I know not what I do...
Similar to others here, everyone levels up immediately upon reaching 10 xp. For wizards, I contrive the entire universe to allow them to have their starting spells immediately -- since normally my PCs level up in the middle of an adventure. So, I don't use RAW for learning those initial spells. Any ...

Re: Are wizards too powerful in your campaign?
In my group of 6 players two are wizards. Both are level 3 and their class seems to be the most powerful in game. Their spells own monsters with no other classes coming close to the wizards damage. I mean with the ability to use Luck, Spellburn, add their level and int modifiers they are getting 20...

Re: 3rd printing of DCC RPG core book
I bought the PDF of the book through Goodman -- is that PDF updated on RPGNow to the current version? And if so, can I get one? I was just on RPGNow, downloading the updated Transatlantic Terror pdf -- the next most recently updated file was the core rules for DCC, IIRC. If your copy was fulfilled ...

Well, good is hard to do in dccrpg and still keep the style. How about instead lawful? something like a demanding stern force for Law who expects unwavering discipline and exacts harsh punishments for those who falter. This Lord of Law indeed always seeks to overthrow Chaos and purge the universe of...

DCC Japan / Incidents of Travel in the Ketsueki Empire
I started a thing locally to playtest for eventual 'zine release. It's a campaign based on the folklore and culture of late classic era Japan (think Tale of Heike). I'm sharing all the playtest material here as it's written. Just understand that the content is in constant flux (like I've changed the...

Re: Bringing back roll-under attribute checks?
We use both roll under and roll target number, depending on the situation. What if a character with a bonus to their attribute also had the DC reduced in relation to the character without a bonus? So, for instance in order to bash open this door, the DC is 17 for a STR 9 character (or any character ...
