Re: The Next Game
Never done a play-by-post, but I'm interested! I'm a long time RPGer, newly converted to Crawling as well

Alignment question
So is Law and Chaos meant to be equivalent to Good and Evil respectively? I've grown to understand the two part system of D&D and Pathfinder, granting different flavours of Good and Evil, and note the decided lack of these terms in DCC. I'm just trying to figure out what was intended with alignm...

Re: Spells FX overlap
Maybe we can come up with a generic table of random magical phenomena that occur when spells overlap (barring a better rp solution already comes to mind) that gets more heavy handed as spells are spammed... honestly the idea of plogiston disturbance is just to neat a thing to restrict to spell duels...

Re: Conversions
Right away I want to see Toruk as a patron, mwahaha...   I'm a press ganger for Privateer Press, and love the Iron Kingdom setting as well, but one of the things I love about DCC is how not a miniature game it is. Stating out some critters from the Monsternomicon could be...

Re: Spells FX overlap
I am really digging catseye yellow's rp solutions to spell overlap- especially the animal lord thing...but I digress... What if certain spells cast multiple times interfered with each other- like discordant ripples in water- and risked plogiston disturbance? Probably should be a small chance, due to...

Re: How do you deal with stupidly cautious players?
I ran "Portal Under the Stars" twice in one day. My first group was composed of inexperienced (yet inebriated, I later found out) players. My second group contained both new and veteran players. None had played DCC, any experience being drawn from other rpgs. I'd hoped to test whether expe...

Re: Patron - The Whisperer
This...is... GREAT! I love how player apathy/hubris/lack of imaginative becomes a teachable moment in dabbling frivolously in dangerous magic, haha. Opening doors to the supernatural should never be taken lightly! The level of sick in the Whisperer, and the way you presented it-you did that on the f...

New to this Dungeon, seeking sage advice
Hail! I am new to DCC, but have been playing, running, and writing RPG stuff since the '90s. Having played a funnel ("Portal") a couple years back, I was hooked, and now running funnel demos for every able-bodied peasant in the village! Ha! I LOVE the way this game is uncramped by over-qua...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hail! I am Fenris Ulfhamr, from the black swampland of Volusia to the frozen North of Big Skyrim country We just ran Portal Under the Stars for two sessions today, and it was glorious! The death toll felt a bit low (under 50% losses each time). Am I growing soft in my middle age? NAY! Woe be to the ...
