Re: Editable copy of the rules
Yea I may well end up doing that; I just want a version of the rules with my own house rules integrated within it for my gaming group and I. I wonder whether under the 'For personal use only' criteria Mr Goodman and co wouldn't supply it? They must have a word copy they could make available for a su...

Re: 20 point spell burn
Looking through some of the replies above some folk appear to be tethering the general spell burn effect with the spell burn of 20 points for a specific result. These are essentially two entirely independent uses of spell burn. One has no effect on the other. The 20 point spell burn is an additional...

Re: 20 point spell burn
The rule appears to me to be very simple: for 20 points of spell burn you get to assume your Spell check roll is a natural 20 and therefore a critical success. This means you cannot fumble since it is established that you scored a critical success and as you scored a critical success you get to add ...

Re: 3PP in the UK
Yes I could do that but postage from the US is more expensive, the book is more likely to get damaged in transit (I have experience of this) and if it isn't marked as a book (i.e. it's marked as a game or whatever) I get hit for 20% tax and an £8 handling charge. All of this makes a $30 book cost ab...

Re: 3PP in the UK
Hey Weisenwolf, most 3PP are available as print on demand, rather than available in stores. My products are available in print online and distributed by post. Some 3PP products are produced in the publisher's home, such as some of the zines, but they too are order by post. Hope this helps. Yea I kn...

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
Yes they are neither Fighter nor Thief; each to their own but for me the Halfling hasn't done as well as the other classes in the conversion process so I have changed mine so they do have a niche I think the biggest issue for me is that the luck thing just turns the Halfling into a battery for the p...

3PP in the UK
Anyone known where hard copies of any of the 3PP adventures can be purchased in the UK (or even Western Europe)?

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
I guess, I see the ability to share luck at 2x the rate, and recover it more quickly as balancing out any other factors vs. the Warrior/Dwarf. Plus, they are a totally different character to play, and bring other things to the party. Their ability to sneak silently is also a big plus when used crea...

Hello and welcome Dawnrazor,
yes that's a pretty typical history for the DCC community; I got a cat and no divorce but otherwise your bio is a close match

How about adding several 0 level adventures; IMHO there is no such thing as too many funnel adventures. Maybe the community could write them for you?

Re: DCC Halfling only class that's worse than Basic D&D sour
I guess, I always felt the halfling in D&D was pretty lame. I never wanted to play them. I usually played a gnome instead. They just didn't have much that interested me. So when I got DCC, I was immediately impressed with the halfling class. In my view, it was "fixed" so that it is no...

Re: Alternate Demihuman classes?
I'm well aware of the RPG history behind it but I have never understood why. REligious is not a word I would use to describe dwarves it's just one of those RPG conventions which is mostly to fill a 'gap in the market' than anything else. I can't see Thorin and Co with prayer beads

Re: Alternate Demihuman classes?
Ive never quite got my head around the idea that the default second class for Dwarves should be a Cleric - what suggests Dwarves are particularly religious? I think the most obvious additional option for demi-humans is a Thiefly type with skills based heavily on race, so mechanical skills are top fo...

Absolutely!
At least doing it this way opens the way for the foolish fighter to take the dangerous step of casting from a scroll and that would be a right giggle

Re: Luck Regenration
The other interesting thing about halflings and thieves is that they are the only classes that benefit from burning luck to avoid dying (no point at 1:1 but 1:2 or 1:D4 etc. well worth it) and doing their thang is dangerous so whilst they CAN both use it all up I find that they are reluctant to do s...
