I thought the wizard staff only allows the casting of the spell a few times a day, not unlimited.

Re: Who else is working on DCC RPG?

Harley Stroh writes awesome adventures.

But we need the "year book" for DCC, detailing entire pantheons for clerics, patrons for wizards, etc!

Re: Four fixes for DCC

Does allowing spellburn depend on the patron too? How does a wizard know HOW to spellburn, where does that knowledge come from? You can spellburn without patron. The wizard learned it from ancient tomes or while experimenting with magic. He might contact otherworldly beings that he didn't ally hims...

I am also interested in the best ways to make rolls be high=good like with a DC. I guess you could do luck check DC = 20-luck score.

Re: Four fixes for DCC

I must admit that I am confused with the option of NOT having a patron. You only miss out on the bonus patron spells and invoke patron. Seems to be not so big a sacrifice for not owing allegiance to a patron. Does allowing spellburn depend on the patron too? How does a wizard know HOW to spellburn, ...

Re: Four fixes for DCC

2. Spellburn is overpowered Yeah, there is potential for this to be abused, or make your life difficult. I have similarly put a 12 point cap on it, and further limited it by saying that it takes two rounds to cast a spell if you use more than 8 points. But I give a nice 10 point bonus anytime a cha...

Re: Ability Increases

Unlike most other editions of DnD, DCCRPG does not rely on stats to make good characters. Stat increases are not necessary.

Re: Death in DCC -- advice plea.

I'd argue this is completely unlike 3.5/PF/4e because you have permanent stat loss each time. Heck, you lose a stamina point every time you GO DOWN, even if you're healed that round. (Make sure you're applying that rule, btw. It's a mean one, but I like it, and it makes combat suitably dang...

My two coppers:

1) You roll ONCE a round for the deed die which applies to all attacks.
2) You can only declare ONE mighty deed per round.

I'm curious how folks deal with sneak attack. Can it be done over and over again in battle by hiding? I'm thinking it should only be usable by surprise? The rules are unclear IMHO.

Re: Wizard Power

Someone tell me if I am wrong, but Wizards do NOT have to have a patron. They are certainly more powerful if they have one due to patron aid and patron extra spells, but it is not required as far as I know.

Re: Ran my first session of DCC RPG this past weekend.

I'm thinking in my next DCC campaign I might house-rule to allow negative hit points, with additional permanent injuries at -10, and maybe some sort of "you're totally mangled" rule at -20. That sounds beyond generous. Our group is also playing in an AD&D 1st Ed. campaign, and -10 HP ...
