Re: Time Travel

Great empires of the past (Egypt, China, Rome) should be straightforward -- features will be familiar to the players, but you can throw just about anything at them from the religion/mythology.

Exactly.
IIRC, my red Basic box came with blue plastic dice and a white crayon.

Re: Ideas for Corum style "planeswalking sandbox"?

Lots of ideas in genre lit. I'm working on something adapted from the lighthouse in Clive Barker's Abarat , plus an idea or two from Lost . An item/location combo like the rings and the Wood Between the Worlds in C. S. Lewis's The Magician's Nephew also has possibilities. Or there's the cave or hous...

Re: Compatible with Dungeon Crawl Classics dice sets KickSta

Question on the dice sets: If, say, I used 6 picks to get the 7 die DCC set, would I have to get all those dice in the same color? In other words, can I get that set in mixed colors, or would I have to spend picks individually to get the dice in different colors?

Re: Two Questions about Table 4-6: Counterspell Power

Question One: Results 1, 2, and 3 for the Defender High column state "defender's spell lost" at the end of the entry. In the Spell Dueling example, Magnus rolls a 3 on the table during round one, but doesn't seem to lose magic shield because he uses it as a counterspell again in round two...

Re: Clerics of different alignments and spell benefits to pa

For these kinds of role-playing issues, I think the DCC book hits a great spot between the specific and the undefined. Remember that while the module or campaign may have a plot (YMMV), the characters and how they act are a collaborative improvisation. Party alignments conflict? There's a mechanic f...

Re: Atributes for non-human races (?)

I just want to avoid the impossible strength 18 hobbit. A 3' tall person weighing 60-80 pounds could never, under any circumstances, be as strong as the biggest, brawniest man you know. I would point out that it's not obligatory to treat the other races as size- or shape-distorted humans. Our close...

Re: Countered or not?

I reckon that paragraph is just pointing out that the initiative-last spellcaster, if he chooses to counter-spell, enters into the duel on the opposing caster's terms. He's responding to the spell that's being cast. He is otherwise free to take any action, such as casting another spell, as normal. N...

... casting a spell could lead to PC death, corruption and/or some other nasty stuff that seemed a little random and haphazard- why cast spells at all. Well, yes! Magic is not chemistry; it's something very special, and there are great risks involved in making the universe bend to one's will. DCC h...

It appears to me that the ogre is the low end of the giant category; his 4 HD coincide with the start of the giant critical table. The combat tactics feel giantish also.
