Re: magic item identification? What's Your take?
I'm kinda of two minds. I like the idea of having the guys sweat it out, trying different things, risking curses, acting silly"I put the ring on and try to fly! I run down the hall,am I faster? I wave my arms a lot,now try and hit me!" On the other hand sometimes I just wish to get it over wi...

Re: spellburn & patrons
Never had a Patron-less wizard! Good Lord Man! the power and abilities they would give up! I'm trying to think of a reason to not have a patron.......nope can't think of any! I guess if it happened I would indeed just make up a chart for him,I would also make up another chart for dealing with other ...

I'll hit you up next payday as well,I don't use Crawler but my players do after I pointed you out to them! Without Crawler I doubt we would still be playing DCCRPG. Those apes lose dice more than Fleas jump off a dirty dog getting a bath!

Re: Player Betrayal
I echo what has already been said, the character not the player is at fault. In real life I return to gas stations because they gave me back too much change, pay my taxes and mostly smile at rudeness in others. When my boss says jump I am already airborn with my feet tucked up so it seems more impress...

Re: Request an adventure thread!
I just daydreamed about fungoid creatures growing out of the ground at the local graveyard, then killing people and placing there corpse in the gravyard with fungule seed in it! Each corpse had multiple fungoids bursting out of it and then people started to be infected by airborn seeds, like pollen! S...

I'm TIRED of the oh look at this old ruin nearby! My poor villagers need to grab pigs and buckets and head into this or that trouble. Blah!!!! What I want....what I need! Is adventures that come to ME! 0 level adventures that travel! Your village is raided by Pirates! Help defend it or die! Oh gods,...

Re: Advice for a new Judge..NPC Wizard will kill them..
My npc Wizards use the same rules as the pc's with a few nods towards the differences. Npc wizards will probably not spell burn as much as a pc Wizard could or will start with some points already spellburned. Because of the way I use npc Wizards,Wizards are NOT to be trifled with. The party will eng...

Re: New Players and/or Dead PCs
My players generally have a group of 2-6 zero level henchmen (each) and often activate those henchmen and turn them into pc's. The times that a pc and all his henchmen have died off the fun started as that player begged and pleaded for a loaner from the other pc's so he didn't have to slog through a...

Re: Difference between D&D dungeons and DCC dungeons
DCCRPG dungeons remind me a lot of the 4E ones. Fewer endless halls to explore, fewer weak monsters to fight, more interesting monsters, more memorable encounters. D&D Classic and AD&D had mighty HUGE dungeons filled with sometimes hundreds of different types of monsters but after a bit you ki...

Re: My DCCRPG Megadungeon Funnel
We played yesterday and had a blast! The first level went great and they managed to fight there way out, well, some of them did. I'm happy I spent so much time on the city as they spent a good amount of time exploring it.More of them died in the city than the dungeon though. I made it a particularly n...

Re: My DCCRPG Megadungeon Funnel
I finished the 1st level! It ended up being one large area that used to be a tomb that is not collapsed and half filled with street rubble from the collapse. There are three ways out, each leading towards a different area. The one on the left leads into a set of burial chambers for the servants of th...

Re: My DCCRPG Megadungeon Funnel
I placed Bhazanmyrr (it's what I'm calling it for now) on a small shattered continent about half the size of Australia. It lies on the southern coast,to the east is what I'm calling the green coast. A breadbasket type land full of slaves(elven slaves the most prized) that provides Bhazanmyrr with mo...

Re: My DCCRPG Megadungeon Funnel
So for the first step I'm sitting down with paper and a copy of Vornheim to create the city. I dislike detailed maps as they never seem to see much use at my table.Instead I'm going with a huge mess of city scribble with sections of important places and epic buildings. Instead of the normal and real...

Re: My DCCRPG Megadungeon Funnel
One idea I had was to make the Tyrant one of the descendants of the heroes that stopped the ancient alien wizard. Perhaps even ruling with a iron fist with some artifact that was taken from the wizard during the last battle. Perhaps some orb that could create a impenetrable force shield around the T...

My DCCRPG Megadungeon Funnel
So I want to make a Megadungeon for DCCRPG. It's going to be huge and epic with a unhealthy dose of weird and darkly supernatural. Things I want to do with it. 1-I want to run it as a funnel at the start. I'm thinking of having the dungeon be placed under a town and have part of the town actually co...

Re: Penalty to Wizard for ditching patron?
I did it like this. The Patron is a powerful magic entity with many minions and agents(much like the pc was) and much like a crime boss the only way out of a contract is in a pine box. Now I didn't have the Patron himself come calling, that would be too heavy handed and frankly not worth the time and...

Re: Torch and Lantern Duration
I stuck my pc's with cheapo torches one time that put out triple the amount of smoke. Made it hard to see if they stayed in one place for long and smelled godawful! I had every critter around either go running away or running to them.
It only worked once but was fun while it lasted!

Re: questions before first game
One fun alterative is let each player run 15-20 characters and treat it like a wargame! I did that for my Blackmoor Dccrpg spin off and it was a blast! We set two tables together and build cheapy 3D layouts of Castle Blackmoor and it's Dungeon and use all my reaper miniatures + all my 4E tokens and ...

So each player will have six characters who are influenced by a druid/player? Pretty cool idea but I would have the players/druids influence other players characters not his own!
