Re: A few questions
Elves are allowed to purchase 1weapon and 1suit of armor at no additional cost only at first level. After that, it's a matter of finding some in loot ,or doing a great service to the elves, or finding a smith who knows how to work the mithril you found, etc.

Re: Elf starting spells
The random nature of character creation is biggie. If you play by the book, you need to get lucky enough to roll an elven starting profession, and have that elf get ability scores that support both the fighting and spellcasting role well. Likely, if you end up rolling an elf, he probably won't have ...

Re: Dead Characters
I've found bringing in zeroes to a first level party is clumsy. Alsomst universally, they get equipped and bankrolled by the higher level pcs, but are still really vulnerable, and outshines way too much. When everyone is zero level, it's a different vibe. The funnel really is a different style of pl...

It's pretty much a consensus that CAS was robbed by being omitted from Appemdix N.

Ah, from that perspective I understand. You should still read more Moorcock. It's good for you, like exercise and a healthy diet. We should all make a habit of it. On that note, I need to catch up on my Corum.

Re: "A cleric has access to the spells of his god"
I would challenge you to do this for yourself, or even better, get your cleric player to do it. He don't need to work up more than his own deity, but as more pcs come through the game, the list will expand organically, and tailored to the interests of your group.

Re: Sword Magic Table results
Sword Magic can be cast on any weapon, but with a -1 caster check penalty, -2 if the cater is not proficient in the weapon. That's right from the spell. Other wise, yeah, right in the book players are encouraged to mine other games for inspiration on magic items. Remember, though, every item has a s...

Re: Appendix N type movies.
That's how I feel. Which is why I love Buckaroo Banzai and Big Trouble in Little China SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much. Again, ensemble casts (i.e. a team of adventurers) and wild adventures into the unknown, mysterious and weird. Jack Burton may say its all in the reflexes, but he's also got a high luck sc...

Re: Clarity requested for Luck mechanic
So a 0-lvl character with a -1 Luck penalty that opts to become a warrior is incentivized to choose a weapon that they'll never plan to use, effectively defining a weapon that the character, for whatever reason, never quite grasped or attuned to. Is this right? Or, perhaps the character has taken a...

Re: [House Rule] Ability Score Bump
I wouldn't do something like this unless my players cried out for it, but I'd say yes if they did. I'd only do one score per level, and I'd warn against including Luck among the options. I think I want the price of training to increase a the pcs level, too, perhaps 50-100x xp needed to next level.

Re: Clarity requested for Luck mechanic
You have it exactly right. The modifier, positive or negative, applies as a special case for these rolls for this character, and does not change as luck rises and falls over the characters career. The same applies to a warrior or dwarf's lucky weapon.

Re: Stomp the typo!
And that's word of Goodman on the topic! Although, just to add my own little wrinkle, Luck modifiers can indeed change. Lucky roll is locked (ie birth augur ) and the warriors lucky weapon. That is, of course, unless you as judge rule differently

Re: Stomp the typo!
Regarding perception type checks, this is also based on the specific situation. To me, a passive Listen or even Spot check ought to be based on Luck, but actively searching or trying to hear something is better left to Intelligence. DCC skills are supposed to be pretty loose, so if you as a judge th...

Awesome! I'm glad you liked it. While there's some modern elements to it, I believe that 'Army of Darkness' is also an Appendix N type of movie. Absolutely Army of Darkness! Plenty Appendix N has modern (or at least contemporary) elements. The pulp feel is much more important than the medieval sett...

I'm just shy about making a new class for every little niche. That's what happened to modern editions. I wouldnt try to tell anyone what to do in your home game. But to give alternatives, above are listed a few situations where heavy armor is a disadvantage. Make sure those situations come up. Secon...
