Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Down the left-ish hallway lead to an open cavern. I combined handout F & G and removed the ladder. The statue was atop a base; the base looked like it could accept things, that pieces would fit in. Also, I was not happy with the new magic weapons, being sensitive to the once you give them they s...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Hornaur's blade With was of similar, distinct stone as the dirk, and it's touch had an aura a magic to it. Super. Skiffing about the party found a rats' den and hornaur's room. A little of this, some of that. It was discussed to use soft earth and dig a little as there was the impression that fresh ...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

We regrouped, spent time looking backwards; why are we here, what are we doing - it's tough when you play once a month. Done Also, we were continuing our audition for a replacement for Khalil. The first session was a matter of explaining how we play to how he plays. Can you fit in. Done. I took grea...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Here's where I'm at. First, as the party is really taken by the books and their titles i will be certain to include titles that will have an impact on the story, cause that is the type of texture we enjoy. Also, i really like Hornaur, the wererat. I intend to have the party find him acting like a th...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Here is my thinking. I am looking to have the party activate five serious bits of magic that will create a dome of protection (basically) against the archomental Olhydra. Gurnard's Head is home to one of the magical things that needs to be activated. In the underground, level 2, there is that strang...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Some times things work out A) I will tell you straight out that was not my best session as a DM. B) We were auditioning a new player to fill the space left by Khalil. As a DM I like a group of four, which I find the perfect example of democracy. This audition involved lots of stopping mid action, at...

Re: DCC#5 Aerie of the Crow God - Map Scale

Okay; I will make a transition so that some of the stairs are outside, yet below the tower. In the 'A' section is a rook encounter and a drawing of rooks attacking a party on stairs that is clearly outside - water is seen in the back ground. Yet there are no outside stairs. So, yah, I will have the ...

Re: DCC#5 Aerie of the Crow God - Map Scale

I could use some clarification, please. Are the stairs that lead up to the tower inside or outside? There is a transition i am just not seeing clearly. There is the cave with the scragg, stairs (inside) and then rain outside, rook attack, guy hanging from flag staff. Where does that inside/outside t...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

A week away from game day, so time to collect some random thoughts. Sorry that I am not smart enough to post the map in a fashion that is easy to view. If you could, you would see four towers on the west side of things and one deep northeast in the mountains. The text Trouv Tou started reading menti...

Re: Blades Against Death - It Has Arrived!

I'm thinking this is a really neat adventure. I appreciate the full story write up, back drop so that it can fit in as is with the DCC campaign world. As it is, I am going to break it into three individual pieces, see the seer here, go over there to the temple to get the special undead magic sword (...

Re: Blades Against Death - It Has Arrived!

Currently checking BAD out as a potential direction. As always, i think DCC does an excellent effort with eye candy. One thing, though, the image of inside the moon temple is super cool (i like the guard with the sword coming at you) but the dimensions are off. Coming down the shaft, 1-5A, it says t...

A Decent Sized Ship

Need some direction on boats. I know very little of boats. My party has the Uzrivoy which, aside from other things, is a magical ship that is described as your general Galley. Just used d&d wiki on galley and get a vessel that has 250 people on it. Is that big? How big is the ship in Pirates of ...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Couple of things; One; found this as a quick and easy title generator for books found in a library: http://www.enworld.org/forum/dnd_view_block.php?id=172 I manipulated a few, changed some names so they would reflect areas identified on the map (above) such as the Manual on Manticores of Gisoreux, a...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Here is my map. Yet to name the body of water, and, would gladly take suggestions. Gunard's Head is down around 7 o'clock, and, the current direction w are headed. I put a note to Trouv Tou regarding some papers he found in Tamm's Tower that has some pertinence to five towers and something magical. ...

Re: What DCC for a pirate/nautical campaign?

It is that time of month - we play tomorrow, barring any illness that wiped out last month's session. We are on our own map, looking to inhabit Taam's Tower (DCC 3) which is by a large body of water, we have the Uzrivoy from the Mudd Sorcerer's Temple, and, I am looking to make this campaign more wa...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Does this seem right? It says that in a book on ancient sea travel by Lionel Cassons there are statistics based on recorded Roman voyages that average to 50 miles per day at sea. Based on that information and if we consider that the distance between Rome and Alexandria by sea is about 1250 miles it ...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

I need a hand. I have placed Grunards Head over there on the map I made. There was a drawing of an island that kind of looked like the Mediterranean with Italy jutting in; so I drew something like it, borrowed map sections from warhammer that looked neat. I'll post a pic if you are interested. Anywh...

Re: Passive perception: Luck or Intelligence?

When my players are in a situation that can not be fairly described yet I feel they may have a reasonable chance of noticing something, I have them roll percentiles without telling them why. What they roll for depends on the situation. Generally, in a walking down the hallway setting I would have th...

Re: DCC #5 - Aerie of the Crow God

Right, so here we are recovering from being blow away at DCC30, with a need to reinvent our purpose. Maledocinious the Titan will suggest to the party, now numbering three with the deaths of Khalil, Elrick & Wasabi Pea, that they retire for a while, regain their strength and comeback when and if...

Re: Are wizards too powerful in your campaign?

The math in our world is slightly different and I find it very educational to read the previous responses. Ours would be considered 3rd edition, perhaps, and we are 7-8 level. Casters have plenty of spells. One of us is a druid who has an insane number of spells and natural abilities. This is really...

Fantastic Deaths

Have you had any? Khalil just suffered one in DCC 30, when the door opened, the ice Basalisk froze a few of us, and, one of the bad guys had a massive hammer designed specifically to smash frozen opponents. I thought that was a brilliant 'trap', tho Khalil is still not talking to me. Years ago we we...

Human Druidic Gods

We are reconfiguring, reorganising and adjusting to new math on the composition of the party. Long ago the party took out The Mysterious Tower, we call it Tamm's Tower. We will retire there, set up shop, actually attract followers. 30 years of DMing and I have never done this. (Is it any fun?) Trouv...

Re: DCC #30

Well now, that was different. We met the KotW and had a good chat. He told of the evil white dragon, Snowstorm, who came and killed the maintenance staff, and, brought an evil mage, and, how it was much colder now, and, something is happening with the dragon ether at the Pool of Dreams. The party en...

Re: Too many DCCs?

Yup, on the note, totally dissatisfied with the Ghost Tower of Inverness for its complete randomness, how there is no benefit from one encounter leading into the next. I find this a problem with many TSR products. We are gearing up for our next attempt at the Vault of the Dragon Kings and fully appr...
