Re: Reload Times for Crossbows
It's up to the Judge. In my case it's a light crossbow, and I have introduced a seperate heavier crossbow with d10 damage and one action reload.

Re: The Swords Trilogy
Finished this trilogy early this year if I recall correctly, maybe the end of last year. It's not my favorite from Moorcock's works, but it has the best portrayal of Chaos.

Cool stuff, it will be useful for players who have no idea about what personality they want for their characters.

Re: A BUNCH of questions as I am confused.
Okay, first forget about what you're used to from D&D. It's different here. Read the Cleric, Wizard, Magic, Judge's rules sections carefully. Wizards : They know as many spells on a level as seen in their table on page 50. If a spell fails, they lose it for the rest of the day, plus they possibl...

Re: Advice on custom-made adventures
I find it easier to make adventures for DCC because it takes no effort to come up with sh*t on the fly. DCC doesn't give a crap about balance, no need to fine tune encounters for the party. Go with similar HD and damage for the monsters in an average encounter, but don't be surprised when everything...

Re: Is MCC going to slow down the production of DCC modules?
I'm sure MCC and DCCL modules will be easy to use with DCC.

This reminds me the time when during Sailors on the Starless Sea a PC wanted to sneak through the courtyard with a lit torch in his hand.

Re: Best 0/1st Level Adventure Combo to kick off a campaign
Doom is one of the few sandboxy DCC RPG adventures. It's pretty open ended with a lot of different ways to solve the main conflict. I've had a party who beat the "boss" early in the adventure, and only visited the dungeon later for some loot - then most of them died there. Another group fr...

Re: Best 0/1st Level Adventure Combo to kick off a campaign
My favorite comboes are Sailors on the Starless Sea followed by Doom of the Savage Kings, and The Meat Grinder followed by The Meat Grinder Too. People of the Pit and Frozen in Time are amazing first level adventures too.

Re: Acquiring New Skills
This is how I added elite classes like paladin and ranger to the game. They didn't require training only though. The PCs had to prove themselves worthy with a quest first.

Re: Spells referencing to D&D?
Those are old modules written for D&D3.5. DCC RPG was only released in June 2012, with Doom of the Savage Kings (#66.5) as the first module in the new line.

Re: Experience points and luck
Survival is its own reward. If you managed to luckily kill a hard mob easily it means you wasted far less resources - hit points, luck, potions, spells. This also means you can manage another encounter or two, which will also give you XP. I award at least 1 XP for every encounter and trap by the way.

Re: Warriors and dwarves, and alignment
If having a Patron or worshiping a God is all benefit and no drawbacks, then you aren't doing it right. I'm pretty sure you can't worship a god or have a patron without drawbacks. They are pretty much built into DCC RPG. For my elite classes I wasn't heavy handed with drawbacks because following DC...

Re: Warriors and dwarves, and alignment
Actually warriors have the most flexible, diverse ability set, and they aren't even tied by alignment. I did have some elite training packages to the four base classes in my campaign though that PCs could gain by completing quests (tying it simply to level is so un-DCC), and I also dropped racial cl...
