Re: Zocchi DIce Poll
With all the talk of poor quality dice, trimming and sandpaper- I really wished DCC stuck with the "normal" RPG dice that are already easily available. Its starting to turn me off of the game. Personally, I still believe that if a game needs so much granularity as to require so many...

Re: "Adventure as 1974 intended you to."
+d16 Nicely said. DCC for me has been a breath of fresh air to one that had abandoned D&D as soon as he took on elok at 3rd ed rules.. They are good rules but I can not recognize them as D&D. DCC is the D&D that I remember plus some polish. Plenty of kinks to work out yet Goodman Games b...

Re: Korrenor Mini campaign Atlanta GA
Interlude. XP & Waffles Well this report is "late" but time hasn't allowed me to do a blow by blow recounting of the adventures but here at least is the short form: After the Parties journey into the Arid lands they came away with a fair haul of treasure (for their level) plus a numbe...

Re: DCC Playtest report Richmond VA - the funnel...
Nobody died? I've never heard of such a thing. If the 1st level guys don't go to the front lines, the DM could simply rule that they don't get any XP for the adventure. That should cause them to mix it up a little bit more in the future. Ah Fin! a part of me wants to agree with you but the ...

Re: Character Improvement Options
So what about the incongruence between DCC Paper Heroes and Appendix N? Or the blacksmith who isn't strong enough to, you know, actually work as a Blacksmith? Or the precipitous decline of an Adventurer's aptitude in anything to which they can't apply a class bonus due to stat point attrition? Enou...

Re: Updated Cleric Class
..... That is a sign that your deity is NOT very happy with how many requests you made. Mathematically it seems to do well to limit spell casting. Design-wise is seems to do well in its simplicity. All three areas of the cleric (spells, lay-on-hands, and turning) can use the same success/failure me...

Re: Character Improvement Options
One thing I'd like to comment on, however, is a bit of an "I Told You So". I've been harping for a long time now that DCC should have some variant rule addressing these issues that's officially supported that appears in a sidebar or appendix or somewhere.. ... But this is stat generation ...

Yaay! Good to see another new Playtester post a result!
Please do share your groups initial character choices. I like to see what is being favored by different players. So far Wizards dominate my group but Rogues are creeping up as second. Warriors next and Clerics last presently

Re: Character Improvement Options
Well Said abk108. Yes I already was afraid of this "other side of the coin". Hey we're all assuming that DCC characters will come out as a collection of negative modifiers. I'd say the average character is admittedly a vanilla 11-10-11-10-11-10, and that there will be many with lower score...

Shields shall be Splintered rule: Any creature with a shield may opt to avoid lethal melee damage by sacrificing their shield. A normal weapon may not shatter a magical shield, except as a function of the Mighty Deeds of Arms (MdoA) system. A warrior or Dwarf must score an MdoA value = shields magi...

Re: Character Improvement Options
I also like the idea that stats potentially can be increased with a "roll over current on 3d6" chance every odd- or even-level or so, especially in light of how stat-attrition is a real threat in the game. Aha, it's also discussed in this thread Ah! I thought I had seen the idea tossed ab...

Re: A blasphemous idea
I like this idea. But the devil's in the details. I could see it being stunningly elegant or overbearingly complex. Nice idea, though. I too like the way this thread is going but the details may also turn out to be the devil! Finarvyn can you recall or cross post exactly what were Mr G's objections...

Re: Character Improvement Options
I still think, despite what people said in other threads, that some funnel-thing ought to keep going even after 1st level. Therefore I kinda like the idea of that unplayable woodcutter... sooner or later, he'll be overwhelmed by its flaws, and die. Roll up a new PC. ...then again if he was NOT over...

....Yes, I realize that this radically increases the power of a cleric: and that is as it should be, they are the embodiment of a deity after all. Otherwise a deity ends up with its best "sales-reps" being penalized for doing their jobs well... the revision just makes the process a little...

OK so its clear that there are two camps on the Funnel idea. "The Love its" and the "not love its" usually due to the fact the 0 Levels are NOT heroic enough for them. So my purpose in this thread is to invite folks to put down any and all Ideas for Character improvement of Attr...

+d14 Agree with Gnomeboy. This would make a great "Lesser" corruption result where the FOE of the Characters Patron takes notice to their power and takes steps that his rival doesn't gain too many powerful followers for example. I am thinking of the old "disadvantage" you could o...
