Re: Three Things I Don't Love About DCC
1. Race as class. I am working on a houserule that will allow any race to choose any class. 2. Alignment. I will eliminate alignment in my game. But all gods/patrons will have allies and enemies... I realize why these things are as they are, but I was not fond of them in previous editions, and I am ...

Re: mercurial magic
Has anyone considered rolling on the mercurial magic table each time a spell is cast (instead of having a fixed mercurial result for each spell)? Granted, some of the results would not be applicable (e.g.,#72--chain casting), but it might be fun to have a really variable magic system--you never know...

Re: CRAWL! fanzine
Since I subscribed in the past few days, will I receive issue #1 as my first? Probably. Unless I noticed you ordered the first issue separately, then I'd have sent you an email to make sure. But unless otherwise requested, subscriptions start with the current issue. Hi. I just subscribed, and put a...

Re: Patron Generator
This is a really cool idea. You could use the JG "Unknown Gods" as a source, with the listed powers for each god as a guide for patron spells and invoke patron effects.

Re: The roll under Luck Check. . .
Is this the only roll under check in the core book? All other "Skills" say to add the modifier and try to beat a DC instead. Well, to make it simpler, just make the "luck checks" a Luck skill check at DC 10. That should be pretty close to rolling under the attribute. A sampling ...

Firefox folks please try refreshing the page. (If it doesn't appear to change, try clearing your recent cache to make sure you have the latest version.) Thanks! It is working now. The switching between screens at the bottom was hard to figure out, though. I have to click on the "half of a menu...

Look for some printer settings, usually found where you can set up multiple pages on one page. There should be a setting called Booklet. If your printer can do Duplex/double-sided printed, make sure you're set for "head to head" not "head to toe". If you're not capable of duplex...

Re: Max Hit Points
The player and I both roll. The pc gets the better roll. I'm going soft. I hadn't heard of this method before, but I like it as a compromise over the "pure roll" approach. We play using a slight variation of this: the player rolls, and if he doesn't like it, then the judge rolls and the p...

Re: Input on article: Random Hair/Eye Colour, Random Ht + Wt
How about making the height and weight tables a percentage (either above or below) of the "average" height / weight? For example, a random roll might be "-5% taller" or "+30% heavier" than average. That way, each campaign could use its own version of the races.

They make plans, use tactics, and are loyal to each other. Imagine them as military units with strict, ruthless discipline. Use them as minions of the evil overlord or whatever. I know we are supposed to re-imagine monsters for DCC, but this is a stretch for me... goblins--loyal to each other? usin...

Re: Critical Successes and Fumbles
1 is always a miss; warriors and dwarves (only) can burn Luck to prevent it from being a fumble. The book says: A higher-level character with multiple attacks may roll an action die other than 1d20. Similarly, a character attacking with two weapons may roll a die other than 1d20. A critical hit sti...
