Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
Hey dude I'd love to see your gun rules. Are they posted anywhere? Well advanced tech weapons haven't made an appearance yet, but for regular weapons I actually chunks of the idea from someone else, (though I can't remember where I read it). A lot of it is rather campaign specific too. From a cultu...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
Thanks to imperialus. I looked at 'Grains To Gold' and it reconciles closely with DCC RPG prices. The only thing is that the idea that all characters have never held a gold coin is not 100%, as wages of most folks are around 5-7 silvers a day. Now I know a lot of pay may be paid in non-coin/barter,...

Also, a peasant wouldn't be buying an ox. Assuming a certain degree of prosperity he'd likely already own a milk cow. Now in order to keep said cow producing milk she needs to be kept pregnant. This means that each year the peasant would have a bouncing baby cow on his hands. Normally you'd be keepi...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
Here is the process required to make an arrow... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxeFvDgXE54 And he's got power tools. All of a sudden 5cp per arrow sounds like a bargain. Hell, at 5cp per arrow the fletcher is likely almost starving considering he's gotta pay for his materials. One other thing to re...

Re: The DCC RPG Economy. I think the prices are off.
I've always found the fantasy economy to be pretty interesting... One of the best resources I've found is a PDF called Grain into Gold published by Board Enterprises. It's a bit of a beefy book, and their 'simple' system takes 80+ pages to explain but damnit it works, and what's more it works for al...

Re: A Sword and Planet citystate...
I like the widening circles and their hierarchy of sophistication. Presumably, if you're really treading similar ground to your cited source material, beyond the sprawling shantytown mire there lie vast wildernesses dotted with bizarre and isolated cultures long forgotten by the folk of the metropo...

A Sword and Planet citystate...
So in the next couple of weeks I'm probably going to be starting a Dungeon Crawl Classics game. I decided to go for a sword and planet vibe inspired by Barsoom, Dying Earth, Planet of Adventure, Empire of the Petal Throne and a whole bunch more assorted pulp. This is the writeup I have so far for th...

Re: Anybody daring to swear he doesn't roll concealed? ;)
I've rolled in the open for the past 7 or 8 years at least. Got into the habit with Shadowrun actually. Since almost everything in that game is an opposed test it really ramps up the tension when you and a player are standing up, staring each other down from across the table shaking a fistfull of D6...

Re: gunpowder weapons
I'm in the process of trying to build up some rules for introducing high tech weapons and armour to DCC so you can start mucking about with the 'sword and planet' side of Appendix N.

In your examples, an imaginative player can make his Wizard a "Chatty Kathy" who gets to know everybody. I mean, literally everybody he can. He needs the most Friends on Facebook, 'cause he keeps losing them. Or perhaps he befriends nobody but the man he truly wishes to die, who is so pow...

Just got my copy yesterday. Awsome little zine. I particularly liked the "getting rid of clerics" rules.
