Re: My GM Screen
That looks great! If each panel is 8.5 X11 , that would be a large fence. I love all the color and inspirational art on the front. Addressing what has been discussed already, I would find myself needing the crit and fumble charts and the spells tables that my players possess. That's pretty much what...

Re: critical hits on dragons
Yep... Whenever a western gunslinger knocks off the fastest gun in the west, every two-bit wanna-be who wants to earn a quick reputation hunts them down and tries to make a name for himself. Their party kills a legendary dragon? How would the bump in their reputation effect the world around them? Wh...

Ok... This is what DCC is to me... Remember the good old days of gaming when adventurers arose from humble obscurity to become gritty, hard-boiled heroes of their realms? Remember when beloved characters were shown no remorse, suffering horrible deaths at the hands of mysterious creatures and devili...

Re: True Player Engagement...
Thanks Sky Scraper for all the input. You offer some solid observations. The players at my table could make any game fun, so I wasn't asking because I feel like our current game lacks anything. The question was geared more toward getting fellow GMs/Judges to reveal some of their own tips and tricks ...

True Player Engagement...
I would like to inquire of my fellow Judges, DMs and GMs a simple question that can have an elusive answer... What steps do you follow to get your players truly invested in the story that is unfolding at your table? What talent or skill have you developed as a storyteller that more times than not, w...

Yeah... I think you're right. Has anyone applied the transfer yet to a shirt? It seems like it would show up better against a dark background rather than a light one.

Groovy Iron-On Transfer...
Got my box of DCC goodies and gotta say, that iron-on t-shirt transfer is cool.
So what color t-shirt would work best in anybody's opinion? Looks like it will go down kinda mustard gold. Think a royal blue would work?

DCC at Con-glomeration in Louisville, KY?
I saw on the World Tour Schedule that there would be a DCC presence in Louisville, KY at the Con-Glomeration event. I couldn't find info on their site but I hope it's true. I'd love to find some info on it. Anybody in the know?

Re: DCC in Cincinnati on March 22nd
Ran a full table through a funnel with three who had played before and three who had never even played an RPG before. We had a blast and I was really impressed with how the newcomers jumped into the fray with their crazy ideas and schemes. I think my favorite thing to do is to judge this game for ne...

Re: Do you have go-to voices for your NPCs?
Although voices help distinguish characters, I try to use them for humoristic or punctual/temporary NPCs only, because adding a different voice to character interpretation usually adds a layer of complexity to playing the role and to making its interpretation profound. For important/serious NPCs, I...

Re: New Players and/or Dead PCs
I would guess that every Judge has preferred methods, but it's easy to roll up characters of any level in DCC. If the question is, should new players play through a funnel to get their character, not necessarily.
Are you asking about introducing new characters story-wise or mechanics-wise or both?

Do you have go-to voices for your NPCs?
One trick I read somewhere is to pick out some actors and or characters that fit the NPC or villain you are portraying and picture that person saying the lines. For that to work for me, not having Rich Little-like skills, I have found that they need to have very distinctive vocal ticks. One go-to po...

Re: Difference between D&D dungeons and DCC dungeons
Hi all I've only read through four DCC adventures so far (The two you get in the core book, Starless Sea, Doom of the Savage Kings) but I'm getting the sense that the suggested adventure design differs a little from classic D&D and the retroclones. When I draw a dungeon for Labyrinth Lord, I'll...

Re: Character funnel survived, now what?
In the big book, there is some useful information about hirelings and followers on page 310. Also, in Crawl Fanzine #1 there is a neat article about some things you can do with non-optimized parties. Gives you some ideas about healing and other things you might do if you don't have all of the core p...

Re: RPG Overview #5 The Portal Under the Stars for DCC RPG
This has been hashed and rehashed I'm sure, but the funnel experience is like the crazy opening set-piece in a movie.... Screaming, explosions, mayhem, carnage, laughs.... And then the story starts. Once the players have had a chance to get attached to their characters, they settle in and play a mor...

Re: Recommend a funnel module
A crazy idea I thought might be fun... Run them through Portal, let it be lethal and ruthless, pull no punches, especially at the end where the villains can be many and formidable. The players's characters unwittingly free (whatever number needed) characters that were encased inside the mud bodies o...

Re: RPG Overview #5 The Portal Under the Stars for DCC RPG
I like this. I think it is helpful for judges to anticipate potential player actions and to just get an overview of an adventure. ********* spoilers- judges only ************ I have run Portal three times and have found the party seems to always split up in the flame-statue room. Of course, I neithe...

CincyCon is a gaming convention in Cincinnati OH that seems to be growing a little every year. I attended last year, but there was no DCC game to join. Re: Need rules for mass combat...using DCC characters
What cjoe says is what I have found to be true also. You really begin to play another game when you insert the mass combat mechanics into it. That's not necessarily bad of course but be prepared for it. And too like cjoe, what seemed to work at our table was to let the players play their characters ...
