Re: Elf village layout....anyone know of one?

Maps are easy. NPCs less so, but there are options if you're not adverse to conversions.

Re: DCC RPG Annual on the horizon?

In a way, yes, but not quite how it was intended. The idea to release a yearly supplement containing new material for DCC RPG inadvertently turned in the Gen Con Programs Goodman Games sells each year at Gen Con. At first, they were simply a compilation of previously-published DCC stuff in a single ...

Re: Chained Coffin discussion on Designers & Discourses

Okay, done listening to it. Any chance that you can post the original wheel plans (before they were altered) so that it works as you had intended? The thing is that the original wheel plans weren't designed to be used at the table, but rather to give Doug an idea of what I was shooting for. They're...

Chained Coffin discussion on Designers & Discourses

I had the pleasure of helping kick off a new podcast that allows designers to speak in depth about some of their work and the inspiration behind it. In this first episode, we discussed "The Chained Coffin" at length, delving into the origin of the adventure, adapting Manly Wade Wellman for...

Re: Masks of Lankhmar... Missing Luck Rules?

It'll all make sense once the boxed set is out and the optional variant DCC Lankhmar rules are available. In the meanwhile, you can run the adventure with the straight DCC RPG rules. This "forward compatibility" is intended.

Re: DCC Lankhmar

and one more questio: is this module (masks) usable as a funnel? No, it's not. It is explicitly intended as a 1st level adventure and doesn't make for a suitable funnel. That's intended and it has a lot to do with how we're handling starting PCs in DCC Lankhmar. More information will be provided in...

Re: DCC Lankhmar

will masks of lankhmar feature some lankhmar specific rules modifications or suggestions? anyhow i can not wait for it to be available at online store. Not so much. "Masks" is an adventure for DCC Lankhmar, but also has to be 100% compatible with core DCC RPG. The intent is that you can p...

I'd also love to know if 83.1 will soon be available. I just picked up the Chained Coffin boxed set, and I absolutely love it! I'm going to be running a campaign in the Shudder Mountains and would love to have this extra material. Please make it so! I don't have any insider information about when &...

Re: DCC adventures beyond the funnel

No worse than any other fantasy RPG. If you don't mind listening to actual play recordings, you might want to check out the Iron Tavern. You can follow along an entire DCC RPG campaign that began as a zero-level funnel and rose into the high levels of play.

Re: Forlorn North inspirational reading list?

I like how Michael Curtis included his inspirational reading (and viewing) list for the Shudder Mountain campaign setting. Wondering if he, or others, could provide a similar list for the Forlorn North campaign setting from the Frozen in Time module. From Appendix N itself I think of Burrough's Pel...

Re: Anything new in Croaking Fane sketch cover edition?

I don't believe there is. I didn't see the draft layout of the sketch cover version before it went to print and only quickly flipped through it at Gen Con, but I didn't see new material (although there is some floating around the slush pile for eventual use somewhere).

Re: Speed questions

Knowing how fast your character can move is extremely important in "old school" games such as those that influenced DCC RPG. There are many times when a party (a smart one, anyway) realizes that they're out of the depth and chooses flight over fight. When the monster(s) give chase, knowing...

Plenty of movement, but it's all behind the scenes at the moment. Rulebooks, sourcebooks, and adventures are being written, and playtesting is ongoing. Maybe news will be forthcoming over Gen Con weekend...

Re: Ningauble as a Patron

Patron spells for Ning will 99% likely be included in the DCC Lankhmar boxed set, so you'd have to wait until the end of 2015 or beginning of 2016 at the earliest for the official versions. If you're in a hurry, homebrew is the way to go.

Re: What are STR and CON for Robot PCs?

RAW: Robot PCs don't have Strength or Constitution scores (as demonstrated by the absence of those abilities on the Robot PC character sheet). Con is unnecessary as Robots have set HP and are unaffected by poison. How "strong" a robot is is determined by it physical manipulators (lifter be...

Yes, the Paizo Planet Stories collection is the most readily available version. Luckily, it's also the only one you truly need to absorb the flavor of the Silver John stories and the Chained Coffin/Shudder Mountain adventure and setting. If you read that one, everything else is gravy. Delicious, del...

If you're referring to the entry on p. 13, it means there are three of them in that encounter. The same format is used for the stoneghosts on pp. 5 & 9. It's just there for ready reference for the DM. Hope that clarifies things!

Green bands are horticultural. You have clearance to access the forest and farmland levels and, more importantly, command the various ecology robots. The ones with vibro saws, capture nets, tranquilizer darts, and other implements of destruction. Not a bad deal, if you ask me!
