Re: You Might Be Interested
RC brings up a great point about getting newbs from 0 to first level. I had imagined that we'd retcon or come up with some tidy background on the spot, depending on which 0 level characters lived. I think that the play is more important than the background, although verisimilitude is desirable. I re...

Zero Level Modules
Besides "Portal Under the Stars", are there additional 0-level modules available for purchase? I've got at least three groups (with some player overlap) who want to play DCC and I'd like to have funnel options. Sure, I could write something, but I'm enjoying the thought of running commeric...

Gotta define how they got there. Who are the parents? How big is the worm's belly? It's the worm big enough to fit a town inside?

Holy crap! Not only is the DCC book immense, it's one of the most attractive volumes I've ever seen.

I'm looking forward to turning players in their 20s on to DCC and that kind of vibe. I think they'll be pretty wide-eyed.

The Koplow D30, although huge, seems to be as good as dice get. No complaints.

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
I bit the bullet and now own 3 sets of Zocchi dice. I got pre-inked for the second two sets, since they weren't that expensive and I didn't want to mess with the mess of inking them. This will tide my group over for a while. If there's enough demand, hopefully a snazzier dice alternative will come a...

Re: DCC is DDNext
I'm "voting with my dollars" for DCC. I haven't been interested in a mainstream (i.e. WotC) game since 3e first arrived on the scene (although I enjoyed my 3e campaign, which lasted about 30 sessions). My OSR evolution has been C&C -> LL -> DCC. DCC is by far the game that aligns most ...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
I see on the Chessex web site they make goofy dice, but they're under the section "blank". Does this mean they don't have numbers on them? What would be the point of that? Surely there are alternatives to Zocchi dice.

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
The crayon technique will not save anyone grief trying to color Zocchi dice. My wife and I bailed on the project halfway though. The d24 particularly has shallow numbers which do not hold crayon well, even with a little candle flame applied to make the wax run in the grooves. I'm going to buy a set ...

Re: Great Gonzo!
I completely understand your point of view and have enjoyed games with a plethora of races and classes to choose from. The archetypes don't trigger nostalgia in me, seeing as I enounted AD&D, Call of Cthulhu, Empire of the Petal Throne, and Arduin all about the same time. What I like about them ...

Re: Great Gonzo!
Aw come on now, the book is already huge :) I'm thrilled that the game is currently rooted in the basic D&D archetypes, since it will be really easy to expand. That being said, there are several gonzo monsters in the book. I want to see my players get more out of less when it comes to class/race...

Great Gonzo!
DCC inspires in me the same sense of wonder as when I first encountered the Arduin Trilogy. Everything is great gonzo over-the-top and larger than life. It's got a strong dash of Michael Moorcock as well in the patrons and Law versus Chaos axis. I am reminded just a bit of MAR Barker's Swords and Gl...

I don't use a screen much anymore, but a crib sheet of useful charts, tables, etc. would be great. I suppose this could easy be created in the user community.
