Re: Do we really need clerics and magic healing?

I have a player who loves to be a cleric character, so that part of me likes to have them in my game. On the other hand, the cleric doesn't feel very "Appendix N" to me so it really changes the feel of the campaign. Rather than having a cleric treated like a medic, I've tinkered a little ...

Re: Do we really need clerics and magic healing?

TATG doesn't have magical healing. People can use that (without Transylvania) to play in a setting where the gods don't intervene to heal up somebody. The Polymath class could serve as a kind of "Cleric" that did not have healing abilities. From all reports, the lack of healing magic makes...

Re: "recovering the body"

I home ruled it to this. Make a only luck modified roll against DC 12. First of all Players HATE to roll a nat 20 to save there characters and fail. Second of all I'm a softy and figured a base chance of like 40% was big enough for death to still sting but give the guys a break from time to time. T...

Re: Where is the DCC Crowd heading to in 2013... (Con-wise)

I'm hoping to go to NTRPGCon this year. I have to get a ticket, though. Website says they don't come available until the end of April. I'll be bringing Transylvanian Adventures and will hopefully run a couple of games of it. I can run DCC as well, if it's under-represented. I'd like to play some too...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo

Here's an update... 1. I gots published yo ! It's not TATG. But it's worth noting that (a) I can navigate my way around some grammar and (b) I'm not a total noob. Just mostly a noob. 2. I'm still working on the Solo adventure. It's going to take a while. Just a heads up. 3. Consulting my notes from ...

Re: 2012: Transylvanian Adventures & The Transylvanian Grimo

We need a QuickStart for Free RPG Day. A short adventure, basic rules so we can play it, and a handful of pregens. 32 pgs or so. Yeah, I don't ask for a lot  I'd like to see an adventure for Free RPG day. I'll see what I can do. Can't make any promises on that front. But if I can put somet...

Also, some huge mad props to RCK who did a write-up on TATG over at his blog . First, you should read the write-up, if you haven't already. Kinder words were never spoken about this deformed homage to one of the most bizarrely influential film studios of all time posing as an RPG supplement. 8) Seco...

Quick status update... I'm trying to coordinate with layout on when to begin doing the layout of the book. Work on the cover has commenced. So far, it looks fantastic. Once money changes hands I'll be happy to announce the artist. I'm outlining the "Example of Play" chapter. More on that b...

Re: Who holds the spell charts - GM or PC?

Good question. A lot depends on the player or group. As a GM, I prefer to adjudicate spell results even though it adds a bit of overhead to the time it takes to resolve spellcasting. I just like it better than, as you said, "studious players [knowing] EXACTLY what they could be in for". Bu...

Re: Which campaign setting would be best for DCC?

Of the two in the OP, I'd agree with those who recommended Blackmarsh. I own them both and agree with the comments that have already been made. As for other possibilities for DCC campaign settings, there are tons of options out there. My fallback is my own hack of the Wilderlands setting (of which C...

Re: When PCs die - how do you handle this?

I punish the players severely when their characters die. For every level the deceased character was, I have the player drink one shot. Strangely, most players roll up Dwarves after that. I wonder if there's a correlation... Just kidding. A few years ago, back in the C&C days and such, we had a r...

Hi everyone: I am PRO-crastinating. And when my SO threatened to shove me head first into the woodchipper when I said the "Recommended Reading" chapter was 10,000 words long (my bad, see above), I got a wild hair and went and got the real word count for all the chapters. Like I said, I'm p...

Wanted to note that some interesting things are happening with TATG right now. Tonight, I finished drafting the inspirations chapter. Finished the new character sheet late last week. Layout should be commencing soon-ish? It's the one thing I'm not doing in this so it's a little out of my hands. I'm ...
