Re: ...The Save Is Made Against The Spell Check Result...
Well, I think you've made the right call for TATG. If it's a game *about* magic and wizards, then there could very logically be 'ranks' among wizards. If it's a game that thematically 'includes' magic and the supernatural, but where a 'wizard' is set differently in the landscape, the specifics of t...

Re: ...The Save Is Made Against The Spell Check Result...
In TATG, the spells have set DCs for the saves. With a crit on the spellcheck adding +5 to that number. The spells aren't out until the third book. But when it's available, you'll have some alternatives to work with. Hmmm. Makes me wonder about fixed number + caster level for a save... Depends on i...

Re: ...The Save Is Made Against The Spell Check Result...
I acknowledge that this helps not at all. But this is an issue I encountered a long while back when my group was just getting going with DCCRPG. In TATG, the spells have set DCs for the saves. With a crit on the spellcheck adding +5 to that number. The spells aren't out until the third book. But whe...

Re: Question: Thieves, Luck & Death
My group hasn't used the "Recovering the Body" rules in a long time. But when we did, we allowed for Luck to be spent on the roll and adjusted Luck after the roll. So there wasn't a zero-sum effect. It worked fine. At NTRPG, Michael Curtis didn't allow Luck to be spent on Recovering the Bo...

I'll be seeing some of you at GenCon. Stop by the Goodman Games booth to track me down.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Classics at Gen Con
Will anyone out there be running any open DCC RPG events at Gen Con? I registered a bit late - and found to my chagrin every DCC RPG event is sold out. I recently bought the game, and want to play in as many events as possible. Thanks! I'm going to be at GenCon on Friday and Saturday. I should be a...

Well, the manuscript is finished and I've handed in a copy to Goodman Games for review. We'll see what happens, in the interim, I've got most of the art blocks set up to turn the artists loose on the project. While I was waiting for editors and readers to report back I needed something to do, so am...

Re: multi-classing
The classes in Transylvanian Adventures can be "multi-classed" up to a point. There are a couple of things that probably shouldn't be shared between classes. Those will be developed in more detail in the second book. But there are very pared down "multi-classing" rules in the fir...

And another new post up on the blog: Mad, Mad Libs.
This one describes the random character "background" generator and what a finished character would look (or read) like in TATG.
It's been a fairly popular addition to the Character Creation chapter.

Omigosh, you made the "cooler version" pregens even cooler by giving them actual descriptions! You are awesome! Would it be greedy to ask for a female version of the Hunter and a male version of the Valiant in the next update? Not greedy at all. I'll see what I can do. And re: those descr...

Re: Stamina loss and hit points
I have the players adjust their Maximum HP, not necessarily their current HP. Current HP only drops after Stamina loss if it exceeds Max HP. Makes sense to me and I haven't had a problem with it. Been doing it that way for a long while, even back when Stamina was called Constitution.

For everyone else, the updated pregens will be available when the PDF goes through its next round of edits....
