Re: Level Limits
Well, the review was for the original Beta. The issues with the cleric were addressed with the new version posted here last fall. For wizards, the main concern is with corruption. Can't get detailed yet, but that's been softened quite a bit from the beta, too. The thief? Seriously, the thief can get...

Re: Problems with the funnel
It's not too hard to make a higher level PC. Let your player roll 3-4 sets of ability scores and pick the one he likes best. Assume that's the one who survived the funnel. There are starting gold levels up to 3rd level in the equipment chapter. Above that, you really should be talking to your Judge ...

Re: Elf Stalker.
I guess that means I better get my Gnome & Goblin written up properly, then. Though, neither one is really a typical interpretation. I don't like tech gnomes either.

Stank? I'm getting to proofread it right now (but instead I'm posting on the message boards, I know!). Trust me, it's not going to stank!

Re: Elf Grimoire
Yes. For purposes of spell casting, elves function the same as wizards. Elves have fewer spells known per level, and must start with Patron Bond/Invoke Patron. Otherwise, their magic is the same as a wizard's.

Re: Countdown Thread
Joseph is vouched for! Hang in there. Joseph Has done some really cool things since the Beta, and, just as importantly, he listened to us. I'm anxious to get my copies, too. Remember that the RPG industry lately has become infamous for poor editing and proof reading. Joseph wants to rise above that....

Re: Gamestation Dice came today and I am sad
To be honest, I only ordered the ones I needed: d3, d5, d7, d14, d16. The d7 is an oddball style, but is the only one on the market, I believe. I was already familiar with Gamescience dice, so I knew what to expect. Right now I think Gamescience is the only company making these dice, so I think this...

Re: Get rid of infravision!
Where does infravision come from in terms of the original material? When looking at Appendix N titles I'm not remembering anything that involved heroic races being able to see in darkness. There might have been some monsters, such as Shelob or Gollum who could perceive things in the dark in some ma...

Re: Keeping the funnel going?
One of Joseph's playtest modules has a spot where there are some prisoners to release, along with a note that essentially says "if you're running out of characters, this is a good time to restock." I think I know that spot. It didn't turn out so well since a bad spell fumble (on my ...

Put B1 into B2 as "Cave of the Unknown" to expand the mini-setting nicely.

Re: Is corruption meant to be permanent?
I don't personally have a problem with the corruption, but for those who are overwhelmed by it, a Fort save vs spell DC might prevent it or lessen the effect. I like it, and don't want to lose it or see it become so rare it's irrelevant.

I thought that Patrons were an option for Wizards, but not required. Has this changed from early drafts?

Re: Elves, Wizards, Balance, Oh My!
Aside from the required Patron Bond and Invoke Patron spells, elves get fewer spells per level, and a less favorable experience chart.

Let's broaden that suggestion a bit. In general, it might be more in the spirit of the system to reduce the action die, rather than impose a numerical penalty. It's an innovative mechanic, use it liberally!

Re: Spells, and what to do with them.... [long]
I'd like to keep the charts just like they are. It could add a bit to the bulk of the book, but at the table it really helps a lot to have it right in front of you in a legible size.
