Re: gunpowder weapons

That's awesome, Collin! We are talking about the same Iron Kingdoms, right? From Privateer Press?

Guns don't break verisimilitude. People often overcompensate for their damage, but anything in the d6-d10 range is a about right (pistols on the low end, muskets and rifles on the high).

Re: Encumbrance Houserules Meanderings

That would be ideal, but it still comes down to book keeping I'd rather not do.

I'd rather tip my players off that they need to have a looting strategy (bring wheelbarrows, clear the dungeon and pay local peasants to help ferry it out, etc) than just decide that this sword breaks their limit.

Horrible Mutations in Areas of Wild Magic

I posted this on my blog a while back, but there is a good chance you may not have seen it. I'm running a kind of planar-pirate campaign, where all my players are horrible mutants. Basically, they were in area of wild magic. Every hour, have them roll a Will DC 15. If they fail, roll 1d24 on the tab...

Re: Halfling Lucky Charms

That's what I figured. I like it as is, honestly. You shouldn't be able to burn your way to a critical hit or a mighty deed, but it was something the rules didn't clarify.

Encumbrance rules are fun for nobody. It doesn't really matter how simple the mechanic is.

Re: d16 for ability tests? Talk me out of this idea.

Those kinds of requirements are even worse than the DC system, honestly. From a player standpoint, the most important rolls you make are during character creation, and you have no control over them. The only way this works is if you allow point buy stats, which is very contrary to the spirit of DCC....

I would love to collaborate on this project. I have the Enemy Within but haven't through it yet. I did, however, used to play a Sjaven army back in the day (and Orks in 40k).

The group I run with does a lot of Wolves in the Throne Room and. . .some band I can't remember at the moment.

Really, I just wanted to comment on the OPs name. I hope you're reference the 19th century novel by the Comte de Lautremont. If you ate, you are the coolest poster.

Re: Halfling Lucky Charms

I have a quick question about halfling luck. Could it be burned to increase the result of deeds die, or does a deeds die need to be a natural 3+ to go off?

Re: What 3PP classes are out there?

I was thinking of making a Half-Orc class with abilities similar the rage mechanic that players can use via a magic item found in "Doom of the Savage Kings." Add some Darkvision, some Hatred-based ability, and maybe cannibalism and I think they're be good.

The Emerald Enchanter

What's the street date on this? I know you give me the exact day, but is it first, second, third, etc week of July? Also, one thing I noticed was the lack of level 2 support. This is the only full adventure so far for DCC. The Free RPG Day module has a short one, as does the 13th Skull, but are we g...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide

Marauder, Welcome to the forums! I'm sorry the funky dice were a surprise and disappointment, but fortunately you won't see a lot of use in your first several sessions. (I think a 0-level funnel can be run completely funky-free, but I'd have to check to be sure.) Faced with the same problem I'd pop...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide

I apologize for coming in late and somewhat incredulous to this situation as I just received my copy of the book and did not partake of the beta. You mean to tell me Goodman is not offering an official easy to purchase full set of the dice needed to play the game they just made? No one noticed this...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide

Just wanted to share my two pence on Gamescience dice. While I support Mr. Zocchi's assertion that unpolished dice are more 'precise', I think it's shite that he charges so much more than his competitors for what amounts to a less labour and resource-intensive manufacture (i.e. no painting, no tumb...

Dak, if you want to see what I have in store for my players and if you'd be interested in putting some of it in Crawl!, head over to today's blogpost. I'd just quote it, but there's a table that's not copying well.

Re: Upcoming rulebooks?

As far as spells go, it's really not that much work to convert them from other editions. Just spend some time looking at other spells of the same level and make it progress in a way that makes sense. I'm currently working on a DCC RPG version of "Disguise Self". It will go up on the blog.

Re: (BHP) Appendix N Adventure Toolkits KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!

I'm confident we'll see the 10k goal hit. 15k is certainly possible but it's going to require a more concentrated social media campaign from all of the current backers. DCC RPG is getting a lot of good press right now, and a lot of people are picking the books up, but without someone to tip them off...

It depends. I'm currently involved with three different groups. For my home games, I have both on the table, the LE for me and the other for my players. For my friend's campaign, I brought the LE version of the first time because I knew he would love the cover. He bought his own copy, so for future ...

Re: New to DCC RPG

Quick question - are some of the old DCC adventures playable through this? I note some of them are for over level 10 characters so those are probably not appropriate. One quick note. The level span from DCC RPG to 3.5 is radically different. You can definitely run mid-high level DCC RPG PCs in adve...

Hang on. Doesn't Plato have copyright on some of those shapes? Sadly, when copyright laws were re-jiggered last century, he did not renew his, and they have since lapsed into public domain... On a related note, I'm confused as to how anyone can 'own' a geometric shape (Zocchi). Can anyone 'splain i...

I agree that this is an issue. I tried to order them through The Compleat Strategist, one of the best gaming stores in the country and they told me that they could not get them at all. I went online, did the whole inking myself thing and had a blast, but I know not everyone is that ambitious. I high...

Re: Posting homemade "amateur" DCC module?

I've got something pretty gnarly in the works at the moment. I'm trying to have it together so I can run it for my birthday next weekend, but I've got some work cut out for me. I'll drop a sneak peak from a table I'm working on: Roll 1d5. The result is the number of fingers that have been transforme...
