Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower
Ok, here goes... Zser-Zerad leads you into large, circular room with a large golden depression in the middle, shaped like a very shallow bowl (as the last rank of villagers leaves the lecture hall, they notice a new group of villagers much like themselves filing in to take their places). In the new ...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower
Edit- Gnomeboy beat me to post! Added some additional info. Zser lets out a deep sigh. "Aeder-Kadai? Only the most legendary slayer of malign magical mutants and miscreants, and one of the original founders of this school? Surely even such as you will have.... Oh well. Perhaps you were right ab...

Re: First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower
Ok, with four players we're ready to start! I will put flavor text/story in quote blocks and any visible rolls/adjudication in bold. Slowly the patchwork group of poor villagers and peasants file down the narrow stone corridor into the massive lecture hall. They marvel at the size of the room--the l...

Re: Players wanted: High time for a new PBP
Yep, please roll for your equipment per the rules, or using purple sorcerer. You can add them in by editing your post, and keep that post as your running char sheet if you want. I'll try and edit the first post and title of this thread tonight to reflect that we're starting and give y'all your intro...

Re: Players wanted: High time for a new PBP
Thanks guys. I threw a post up on reddit advertising as well and got a few more interested crawlers so I'll wait until everyone is set up on the GG forums, then PM everybody who's playing. GnomeBoy and Vort, y'all can go ahead and roll up four zeros apeice if you want. For zeros I make declaring ali...

Re: Players wanted: High time for a new PBP
As judge I'd commit myself to an update at least once a day and I'd attempt to actively resolve any moves put in between about 5pm and 10pm EST. For players I'm flexible because there are zero more exciting games out there. If neither of you has read the GFA19 funnel "The Gig at the Wizard's To...

First PBP Funnel of 2020: The Gig at the Wizard's Tower
Slowly the patchwork group of poor villagers and peasants file down the narrow stone corridor into the massive lecture hall. They marvel at the size of the room--the largest they have ever been in--and some shrink at the echoing sound of scuffling feet. They have traveled from scattered towns, haml...

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea - Session Recap
That is as long as your level 1s don't get insta-gibbed by any of the traps lol I'm giving it about a 40% chance one of them looks down the well  I actually ran the first bit of sailors at an impromptu session Monday with some other friends who were new to the game, and they lost someone d...

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea - Session Recap
This was very useful- thanks for posting it and I especially appreciate the advice on tweaks for first-timers. I am running this for an online group next week (almost all of whom are new to RPGs in general) and your experience is consistent with how I expected a lot of things to play out. One tweak ...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Unfortunately, yes - a large portion of the "activeness" was decimated and/or scattered by the loss of G+. There are communities on MeWe, Discord, Reddit, this forum, and probably a few of which I'm am not aware. Also unfortunate is the fact that he most active tends to be on Facebook. Th...

Re: Character creation - Wainwright (your dead)
Oh, of course it was fun for the players... but what about the poor judge who hardly got to kill anyone? But of course you are both right, creative use of any of the starting occupations or trade goods is what it's all about and should be rewarded. I am sure when playing with kids they hav...

Re: DCC in Northern Virginia / Washington D.C.
Hello- recently started playing and I'm also in DC. Do y'all know if anyone plays regularly at Labyrinth? If not, they have open game nights and RPG nights and would probably host a session. They don't stock DCC stuff regularly, but I did order my rulebook through them, and they carry some off-brand...

Re: Character creation - Wainwright (your dead)
The wainright seems super OP when dealing with traps to be honest... The two groups who I've run through A Portal Under The Stars both largely survived through clever use of a cart full of rocks. Dead are like rocks, but more... flexible. Should be very useful, at least until they start to smell.

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hi all- New to DCC and RPGs in general here. Having never played anything tabletop, I was attracted to DCC as a system because it's derivative of old-school speculative fiction rather than carrying on the tropes of other tabletop systems, and because the funnel makes it easy to run a game with a bun...
