Re: Over the 'net game evenings GMT+9 time zone

I'm interested in learning more about your game myself. But I kinda doubt that the Time frame will work for me I suspect I'll be at work most days at that time (if i'm calculating the differences right!)

Re: Demi-human classes...

I've played this with my group a few times and... the whole race\class thing is a nonstarter for us. After the first two games we threw out the demihumans and just stuck with the "core four". As someone mentioned above, this fits classic sword & sorcery better (for us, at least). This...

Re: Party composition & different roles

I think that the funnel is fun for beginning an adventure, but after it started, I would let the player choose what race/class to play. I would have them roll 3d6 six times, and arrange them however they wanted based on what class they wanted to play. And if they decide not to play another thief, t...

Re: again about MDoA ...

The problem with D&D3.0 forward is that it is the unholy offspring of 2nd ed D&D and Starfleet Battles. You know; a rule (and exception) for every situation & you'd better know them all if your going to get the "game balanced" properly. OMG thats was a marriage I would love to...

Re: no magic items--shouldn't those be playtested?

To Ducaster--> I think you do an admirable job of encapsulating the mechanic presented in a viable story context, but it still means that all magic items are cursed. Looking at it as a Player I think it would be fun once or twice, but eventually I'm gonna want a magic item that works properly. Than...

Re: DCC Actual Play Feedback

While it is certainly true that Warriors will make many more attack roles than other classes, I think your being a triful narrow in your thinking Sir. Wizards & Clerics can fumble spells.. Thieves that fail or worse fumble a Trap disarm with potentially disaterous consequences.. NONE of which by...

Re: A couple of observations upon reading the beta...

If elves live so long, and presumably have cast lots of spells with their demonic patrons, why are they all not totally corrupted?! Hmmm maybe you just described the creation of the Drow? Maybe "Elves" were humans once and were "corrupted" into their current stats..... The truth...

Really?! I didn't expect that reaction! I figure my monsters would be really underpowered versions, in order to be viable challenges! :P I designed the table with some fights easier (goblins, wolves) than others (ogre, hydra)... i didn't expect harpies to be an issue  I don't want the d...

Re: "Wizard's apprentice" and spells (Quick Question)

And that, in a nut shell, differentiates an old school gamer from a more modern, power gamer! A good DM will add flavor and allow players to do things on the fly. A good player will not comb the rule book for every situation, but will present to the DM a good reason why his Warrior with a locksmith...

EEek! You table scares the Hell out of me for 2nd level.. Does that help? No seriously 1d3 Harpies? That's the Killer unless the party have really good missile users its deadly out in the open. ONE Harpy properly played would be interesting methinks Contrariwise the Wolves seems under powered. But t...

Re: Scrap the XP table. One table to rule them all

Gotta weigh in on the "Keep it as is" side I am afraid. Wizards are powerful (but fragile) let them stay that way longer than others I say after a few actual experiences of play testing now. What I await to see is if the luck machine that is the DCC thief runs away with the game after they...

But what if you don't roll wizard's apprentice and want to be a wizard? Or worse you do roll wizard's apprentice but go with your strength attribute and decide to become a fighter? Re: Poisons & Diseases

I just fear it leading to full page trap/poison statblocks as seen in 3e/4e. Diseases are little minigames in 4e. It makes sense for 4e, but it is not in the spirit of DCCRPG, I think. Good Lord! All I hope is that maybe a page or two total is spent on some poison disease guidelines: one per page.....

Re: Poisons & Diseases

Personally, I don't see the need for "poisons" in the rulebook at all. Examples of poisons in the monster descriptions and perhaps in a sample trap, sure. But rules for how one "must" format poisons, feh. *shrug* I had a need to do something and shared my thoughts the fact a few...

Not really sure where to put this random thought, but it doesn't seem to need its own thread and we are hopefully about to get a higher level cleric spell... We've found that a -1 (or spell level) penalty for every attempted spell or lay-on-hands use is pretty harsh on the cleric. Instead I've inst...

Grats to Tortog for a well researched and thought out set of ideas. But I also have to agree with meinvt that these are great examples but I really hope there isn't a huge long list of super detailed venoms/diseases/pollutants described in the final rule books. One thing becomes more clear I think M...
