Re: GenCon 2009

Can the wonderful people at GG start to feed us general ideas for the tourney? Just some bits and pieces to get the blood flowing? Let me look... :fathead shakes his crystal ball My guess is that they'll be running the tournament that they've already written (and had intended to run). Here ya go, c...

Re: DCC Tournament Year Five

This tournament recaps has been long in coming, so I apoligize for being late to the game. Actually, I'm surprised that there hasn't been more tournament chatter this year. Anyway, we had a blast, as usual. In fact, the tournament actually encouraged our group to give 4E a try (and now we're startin...

Re: GoodmanGames BookClub - Sci Fi and Fantasy suggestions

Well...I haven't read much worth sharing lately but, I'm really looking forward to a couple of new releases (coming out in October and next week, respectively): The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson (3rd in the trilogy) and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman The Graveyard Book is another foray into y...

Re: 4E - an angry peasant mob (looking for advice)

Hmm, perhaps the angry peasant mob is made up of hard-core 1E fans upset that their cover art has been changed? Seriously, when I read the title of this post I thought, "Oh boy, here comes another one..." Thank God this is an in-game post!! Ha. Well, in that case, how about a daily...

Re: 4E - an angry peasant mob (looking for advice)

Minions? This whole idea started because I was working on ideas for a great start to a new campaign. At the local RPG shop, I came across a clearance item - $5.00 pack of 8 armed peasants from Foundry (considering this pack normally goes for over $20, it was a deal). I asked if they had any others,...

4E - an angry peasant mob (looking for advice)

I've posted this to EnWorld as well, but thought I'd see what the Goodman forums had to offer. I'm starting a new 4E campaign, and I'd like to start it off with some action. The PCs are all from a neighboring kingdom (at war), and have been betrayed in their mission (all of which they'll have to unc...

Re: Forgotten Heroes: Fang, Fist, and Song

Alright...I admit that I only skimmed this thread, but I have a specific question - is there anything in the book relating how to handle the multiclass feat for these classes? We've just started a campaign, and I have a feeling that some of these classes will be of interest to my players. If there i...

4E DCCs - which module should I purchase next?

Thanks to the DCC tournament, my group is willing to give 4E a try. I had picked up Sellswords at GenCon. After reading through it, I found myself wishing that I had picked up more of the 4E modules while I was there. For the first time ever (yes...ever), I'll be using a module in my weekly campaign...

Re: I love the new 4E modules I picked up at GenCon!

Just wanted to comment on the battlemaps (from Sellswords) - they truly take the module up a notch. Including them was brilliant...and given that 4E is much more battlemap centric, you've really put your best foot forward.

Re: GenCon - Dungeon Crawl Wednesday!

I was really bummed we weren't able to find the room (I'm a Gen Con n00b, but no excuse next year). Yeah...it took me a bit to find it myself (it was the first time I've been in that room). I'm going to try wrangling some folks to run games. It is too cool of an evening not to join in. That would b...

Re: I love the new 4E modules I picked up at GenCon!

I picked up Sellswords of Punjar at the con. I believe I've said this elsewhere, but I had always picked up DCCs to just read and/or run as one-shots for gaming weekends. For the first time though, I'm planning to run a DCC almost in its entirety...in my campaign world. It's something I've never don...

Re: GenCon - Dungeon Crawl Wednesday!

I second that. You created fun and imaginative adventure. Also, I thought you did a great job of running a table of eight. You were able to keep the whole group involved in the game, even those that were not able to fit in the boat and stayed on shore. Yeah...I had only planned the adventure for 6 ...

Re: GenCon - Dungeon Crawl Wednesday!

I would like to add mine and Celtar's thanks for setting up the Wednesday night tourney. We did enjoy ourselves and we used the additional experience of playing 4e in the DCC. As we only got to play 4e twice (as a group) before GC2008. Ha. You too, huh? I was the only one from our group that had re...

Also, hi everyone. I'm new. Hey there Amish Ninja! Welcome! I don't know how the DCC tournaments were the previous years, but this year's was BRUTAL Yep...it's brutal every year. I'd venture to say that last year (starting at 0th level) was the most painful...one hit could drop a PC. There is defin...

Great game Dan! Thanks for running the session. It was way cool to hang out play a fun adventure. Hey, no problem. We'll have to get together with your group sometime when we're down in Berea. We've been itching to have another "Con Yeoman" after we move down there. Consider this your off...

Thanks to all of the players that dropped in to game on Wednesday! ...and an extra thanks to all of the GMs that ran a table (right up until a few days before the con, I was worried whether we'd even have enough to field the 5 tables). Mythfish offered at the last minute (thanks myth...you da man!),...

Thanks again for running, Dan. We had a great time. Too bad everyone was more sleepy than me! Hey, no problem. I was secretly thankful that people were dropping off early (I was pretty tired myself). Next year, we'll need an earlier start or a module that is short (hmmm...maybe that "5 room en...

So....who won? What happened? Let's hear the stories!!!

Our group made it to the semi-finals, and had an absolute blast.

I'll post some actual stories from our experience a little later (afternoon sometime...have to catch up on all of the Monday morning work first).
