Restoring STA Points -- Potions? Spells?
A few of the PCs in the party I judge for have bled out many, many times and are nearing death (3 STA). I was thinking of maybe having pity on them and allowing a few of them to restore a couple of STA points either through a rare potion, an encounter with a powerful genie-type character, etc. Anyon...

Re: Warrior/Thief Advancement
But what choices/advancements make individual warriors distinct from each other? Also thieves? For characters who can't easily use magic (though Warriors can have patrons, and Thieves can use scrolls), it's going to be more of a magic equipment question: a demon sword, magical armor, etc. that othe...

Re: Missed opportunity? Ability Score based +/-D modifiers?
Also, I love the progression of the Dice Chain as it is. Those single steps, then double steps, then quadruple steps, ending with a sextoople step just works, since if you're rolling a smaller die, a smaller step makes a bigger difference, and that "worthyness" is true of the higher, larg...

Re: Missed opportunity? Ability Score based +/-D modifiers?
Just using my proposed D modifier table & dice chain. I dunno, maybe its not 'perfect" but certainly seems viable possibly with refinement. Viable? Sure. Necessary? Not to me. Who wants to keep switching dice for different PCs? Seems cumbersome. By changing the die you're rolling, you're a...

Re: Any point in spell level?
So I was thinking about how spells work in DCC, with certain thresholds to cast successfully and different tiers of success available for each spell, is spell level even necessary any more? The only function I see spell level having is a level-based gateway to keep players from using spells before ...

If lanterns burn for 6 hours, maybe torches burn for 3? I don't have any real-world torch-burning experience, so I can't say.

I see it's funded already! That's good.
I'd be using it with BPBM since learning Dark Trails looks like way too much work at this point, and BPBM is sufficient.

Re: DCC Free RPG Day 2019
Does anyone know if the quick start rules / adventure that was offered this year for Free RPG Day (Geas of the Star-chons) will be made available as a PDF? I'd love to get a PDF of it. I see that there's a code in the front of my hard copy to redeem at DriveThruRPG, but the product isn't available,...

Re: race-as-class vs class-as-race
Personally, I prefer the esthetic of characters morphing over time into something much more unique than a Class, so keeping the Classes really simple (as they are) as a base on which to build is preferable. Like for a short while I had a player with a Warrior, but he could cast magic if it came fro...

Definitely Stephen King -- lots of Lovecraft mythos works in his short stories collections and novels -- and Clive Barker (Books of Blood and Weaveworld are solid).

You can find the Defensive Fighting Deed in Steel & Fury https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/147952/Steel-and-Fury-DCC I highly recommend Steel and Fury. We use it 99% of the time, just as a standard part of play. Thanks! I am glad your group enjoys the book... Definitely. If I could glue it i...

Re: Chicken Patron
So I am running a game for a bunch of 8-10 year olds , after choosing to become wizards three of them have decided to name themselves after the local chicken shop and we now have Chicken wizard #1 #2 and #3. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any chicken themed patrons. We are having a small bre...

Re: Converting 3E/4E DCC Modules to DCC RPG Rules: Guideline
Thanks. I just bought all of the 3e DCC modules during the DTRPG sale (at $1 each, how could I not). Any tips on converting to DCC RPG?I find that 3e is easier to convert than 4e, but the Harley Stroh adventures for 4e are well worth the effort.

What about details on the "starter" gods for clerics per the Core Rules: Ildavir, Daenthar, etc? Seems sensible to have info on these available to players for better PC depth and roleplaying.

Converting 3E/4E DCC Modules to DCC RPG Rules: Guidelines
I was wondering if we could start a thread here that compiles all the tips, guidelines, scales, etc. people have used to successfully convert from 3E and 4E to DCC RPG. My general conversion method is more to just totally strip out all stats and "stat from scratch" as it were, basing off o...

For what it's worth, I've been playing one of the Appendix N Adventures Add-ons, "The Treacherous Cobtraps," and it's fun. I've also read through "The Green Orb," and I am planning to use it on my PC's next overnight trek ("Oh look, there's a cave..."). I kind of think ...

Re: DCC and Aereth.
What I hate about FR is that there's sooo much history, that I'm scared to change/add or delete anything in case it interferes with a future adventure. The odd thing is, I also feel the need to always add the location of an adventure on the map. It's just common sense to know the location but it's ...

Republishing Older DCC Modules for DCC RPG?
Are there any plans to republish older DCC modules (0-6x) for DCC RPG rules? I know the aesthetic's somewhat different, but there's such a wealth of material there.
