Sorry, but I want to go back to the candle room for a minute. I'll be the first to admit that I don't have Jedi's memory for the details of our gaming session. I'm better with the themes afterward than the details. In the 6 or so years I've been gaming with him, there are, however, a few memorable m...

I just want to go on record right here and tell you that I haven't shown my true prowess yet. That's gonna come in the Ogre fight. Yessiree Bob...true prowess...that's what coming. 8) The ogre (DM) can’t ignore a fall-on-your face crash. One blood shot eye opens to gaze upon a fearful elf, whose pl...

So ends another encounter that Jedi couldn't wait for. It's funny, because I can always tell when a fight he's been waiting for comes up...he gets all giddy and...well, let's just say that he would NOT make a good poker player. I almost feel bad raining on his dm parade, but then I think...nah. I ju...

Ok, I haven't posted to this thread yet, but I think I can answer your question for our (JediOre's) gaming group. As I have said on these boards in the past...I liked 3.0/3.5, and I appreciated how tightly everything was woven together. You really couldn't change one thing without screwing up someth...

Since Legacy of the Savage Kings was mentioned, if you're interested, the write-up for my adventure through the module is here:

That will give you at least an idea of what it's like.

No, gleaning what he knew about me, Jedi picked Fane of the Witch King. Just wanted to clear up that little tidbit.

I don't know whether you've given any more thought to attending the convention, but I'd encourage you (and Ragnar) to try to make it. For you, JediOre, it would be a chance to get to play instead of DM. At this point, I don't see any reason why I couldn't make it. Sounds like fun. It's tentatively ...

Harley, I've spoken to Jedi, and we would love to do it. There is only one potential snag...Jedi doesn't do 3.5. He doesn't like it, never did, never will. He converted Savage Kings on the fly to C&C. If that is workable for you, then we'd love to do it. If, however, your looking for a strict 3....

Ok, with the adventure complete and a couple of months to take the whole thing in, here are my thoughts. This was bar-none the best single adventure I've gone through. Only the 3 parts of the Desert of Desolation (which right there makes it an unfair comparison) have this one beat out of the adventu...

Sorry, I'm coming in on the backside of this. Idylls of the Rat King was the first module that I ever dm'd. What I imagine happens is something like this (not getting into the government tech, role-playing aspect of it): Silverton is dead. A ghost town, so to speak. Overrun by the goblins of the Sil...

As had become apparent to me by this point, and I wasn’t disappointed, when the going gets tough, Ragnar1965 sends in the expendable one – the druid! ROFL - Who knew he'd end up being so tough! That's all pretty much the way I remember it. Still have no idea about anything that I didn't have an ide...

Thank you for the kudos Harley. I will admit that while I haven't played D&D for all that long (roughly 4 years of 5-6 times per year albeit marathon sessions), I have not had one of my pc's die. My ultimate goal is to not ever have that happen. I know that is not likely however. Jedi is about t...

I mentioned in a prior post that I thought that the fight on the stairs would have been much quicker and deadlier for the lizardmen in 3.0/3.5. In that same vein, I think this fight would have been much more dangerous and much deadlier for my pc's in this fight. So, this fight became my favorite to ...

I'd like to say I had a great motivation for pulling the lizard king out of his pit, but I really don't. I figured the only ones that could have thrown him in there really were Lizardmen. He spoke common, which to me meant he was at least semi-intelligent. I figured, "what the heck". The w...

Hey Ogre, When I ran this for my party, I let the party find Serenna because they actually did what needed to be done to find her. The rogue had found the note to get the +5 circumstance bonus and still had to roll a 19 to find the door. I played her very hard nosed in one way and way too easy in an...

Level 4 will be difficult for them even at 3rd level. Don't under any circumstances allow them to find Serenna. Unless they just feel like rolling up a new party.

I do like the idea of more human baddies. Some other choices are: orcs, goblins, hobgoblins, etc...Don't forget about skelly's and zombies for low level undead. I will say that some of the funnest moments in my gaming have come at the hands of recurring bad guys. They can be introduced at any point....

Here’s the cool thing about Ragnar1965’s game play. I’ve mentioned his odd reaction to undead, but when it comes to tombs and ancient cultures he often has his PCs not desecrate or bother them in any way. You're gonna laugh, but I got this gooberistic philosophy from The Goonies . If you've seen it...

Well, would've liked to comment on a couple thing Jedi said earlier, but work has been crazy. Yes this was the toughest fight to this point in the module. It was a blast of a fight to tell you the truth, and probably better than it would have been in 3.5. Jedi's contention that this fight would have...

I don't know that weaker is the right word. I am disappointed in the lack of summoning spells in C&C. What I really like to do with my druid is flood the room with whatever animals that the druid sees fit. Nothing more fun than throwing 3 or 4 brown bears out to keep the bad guys occupied. Once ...
