Re: Newbie Questions About Actions
If a 0-level character has one Action Die of 1d20, and if the character drinks a potion, does that take two actions and two rounds? One action to uncork the potion during round one (page 78 Activities) and one action to drink the potion during round two (page 78 Activities). That'd be a pretty extr...

Re: Spells FX overlap
@Weisenwolf: my approach wants to be "light".. I am trying to understand a general mechanism instead of specific solutions for each spell (that would be "heavy"). Anyway, I do not fully agree with you, it is a good solution to say that a spell replace a previous one but I feel i...

Im thinking there are a lot of liars for the "First Time fan" pledge to get the extra adventure & swag. :? 320 pledgers and 140 are first timers....... Word is getting out about the KS. Tenkar had it up on his blog, and he gets a LOT of traffic from what I can tell. I think 90%...

Re: DCC RPG 4th printing: What do you want?
I wanted the Wizard cover but By the time I started looking there were none in my neck of the woods to be had. Despite the hefty shipping costs I'm not risking that happening again.

Re: Spells FX overlap
Hi Gnomeboy, I wouldn't dispute that the spell can be cast again my issue is the assumption that the effects are added together.

I suggest you do unto them what they are doing to the monsters; that tends to correct their perspective on stuff like this.

Re: Spells FX overlap
The rules don't specify one way or the other but that's part of the DCC mindset. DCC is 'rules light' in a similar manner to D&D basic rather than 'rules heavy' like AD&D was. It doesn't attempt to have a rule for every circumstance. In that sense a DCC ref has to make rulings on the fly, th...

Re: Spells FX overlap
Yes spells exist entirely independent of each other and any number of spells may be in effect at the same time. They do not however 'stack' so you cannot repeatedly cast magic shield and benefit from the effect of several magic shields.

Re: Holding Actions
Hey all, This is a two part question about holding actions. My group is addicted to holding their actions when monsters use tactics. For example, when a monster retreats into a room, I will have all but 1 player hold their action and then the player will creep in. When the monster (who also held an...

Re: How do you deal with stupidly cautious players?
I ran "Portal Under the Stars" twice in one day. My first group was composed of inexperienced (yet inebriated, I later found out) players. My second group contained both new and veteran players. None had played DCC, any experience being drawn from other rpgs. I'd hoped to test whether exp...

Re: How do you deal with stupidly cautious players?
You know that player? The one who does everything they possibly can to avoid doing anything ? This is the player that makes sure their character is the last to volunteer for anything, the first to run at the smallest sign of trouble, who tries to talk the party out of exploring mysterious rooms bec...

Re: Introductions Thread - Join the Band!
Hail! I am Fenris Ulfhamr, from the black swampland of Volusia to the frozen North of Big Skyrim country We just ran Portal Under the Stars for two sessions today, and it was glorious! The death toll felt a bit low (under 50% losses each time). Am I growing soft in my middle age? NAY! Woe be to the...

Re: DCC RPG 4th printing: What do you want?
The spells are already listed in alphabetical order in the index. A separate list would be nice, but not necessary. Yeah, but it's still clunky to go to that page, still have to find the spell and then go to the spell's page itself. If the spells were alphabetical, I could just thumb quickly throug...

Re: Mutant Crawl Classics pre-order?
Why does the dcc rpg 4th need a kickstarter? Probably doesn't but it's nice for any company to know in a advance a minimum number of customers for the product and sell lots and lots of them the momment they come off the press. And the more profitable it is for them the better price for us - everyon...

Re: DCC RPG 4th printing: What do you want?
Love the alphabetical spells idea. NOOooooooooooo Please remove all alpahetic listings, equipment lists are better in logical groups of related items and spells by level; easier to read, easier to use, more atmospheric. Except when you're trying to find a spell, can remember the name, but not the l...
