Re: Thirteenth session experience....
Keeping the children safe I see! A good scenario to keep the holiday spirit, complete with blood and death. Real cozy if you think about it. Nice fire (burning house), Kids gathered 'round (huddled together in fear and exhaustion), praise to the gods (well, at least the Rager who follows a ba...

Thirteenth session experience....
13th session…Rager player is unavailable. The bad guys decided to decline the Rager’s generous offer of slaughter this time. Well, at least not in the way he asked for it. They threw two burning clay oil pots up the stairs, setting the bed blockade on fire. The PCs quickly flipped the bed upright an...

Twelfth session experience....
Session Twelve: Still goin’ strong, all players present. Well we had left the Rager w/ quite a decision to make. And he chose. He decided to beat the man down w/ the counter weight side of his ax (trying not to kill him, just put him to the ground). He smacked him twice and the stubborn fellow would...

Re: Eleventh session experience....
Sounds like the game continues to run smoothly. Also, it just occurred to me...have you introduced any magic items? Do you think ERP could use a magic item and spells supplement? I think so. Also, I'm curious, What were the RP and VP points given (ballpark) at that session? An armor ring was found ...

Eleventh session experience....
Eleventh session: Oh Yeah! Paladin/Ranger (Or should I say Rager?) not present. Slow start. PCs decide to follow up on some paperwork leads to the south of town. They investigate 4 farms: - One is being worked by the previous owner who fell into deep debt to the Headman who proceeded to foreclose an...

Tenth session experience....
Yep 10 sessions it is. All players present. Well the paladin/ranger had a very rude alarm clock. He was awoken by a morning star and 2 short swords. Not a pleasant way to wake up. Unfortunately for the attackers, he managed to get up by the end of the surprise round (He was pretty bloody hurt though...

Session Nine...All players present. So 2 PCs found out that the priest had visited the headman the night of his disappearance, but that he had returned to the temple shortly after that. The Mystic warrior went to the blacksmith and convinced him to work on his armor right away rather than in the mor...

Re: Identify
OK, so the PCs have found some permanent magic items. They have Detected Magic on them, so they know that they are magical. But how can they determine the nature of the items? There is a powerful wizard in the town, so they are going to see him, but how does he do it? (in game terms) Any ideas for ...

Re: Eighth session experience....
It seems that rules issues are nonexistent at this point in your game. I am surprised they haven't gotten beyond 2nd level is eight sessions. I'd expect they'd be third or forth by now. Maybe it's because they are, for the most part, plowing through the encounters? :?: The only complaint I have wit...

Eighth session experience....
Session Eight, Here we go. All players present. The paladin/knight stayed in the temple to his goddess as usual, the other 2 stayed at the inn. He realized the next morning that the priest was not in. He went asking and eventually found a small boy that had been playing late the previous night who s...

Re: Seventh session experience....
Since it's a type of summoning spell, the creatures often bypass Resilience, unless reducing the effect of poisonous stings. Why is this? Do summoned creatures bypass Resilience? (I must admit that I haven't read the summoning section--I don't generally have many summoner-types in my games). I thin...

Re: Seventh session experience....
From page 44 of the core rules: The number of creatures summoned is equal to the result of the ability check, and each creature’s Potential-Harm is 1, with no more than a single hit point each, and zero resilience. Base the Spell Cost for this effect on an Area range, so is equal to MRV of the Abil...

Seventh session experience....
Seven sessions and counting. Down one player (paladin/ranger could not make it). Finished searching the Goblin lair. PCs picked up some nice change and a magic item (Ewer of Healing- (20) d6 healing). They marched back to town w/the goblin's surviving prisoners. When they got back to town, they noti...

It enhances Coercion, and any use of Coercion where the character is specialized in intimidation specifically. So it summons the likeness of a "bad cop" to help with the interrogation? Yeah, it summons my brother. I'd say it uses the skills mentioned to project a demonic crea...

Re: Permanent spell effects?
I agree rules bloat is to be avoided. That's what Randy was for...I'd throw out a hundred ideas and he'd shoot down all but one. Game design for us was like two branches of government deciding on a bill... Fact is that spells and rituals can be controlled by the flow of information in the gam...

Re: Permanent spell effects?
The simple double cost solution seems a little to easy actually, which could cause for more instant kills. You know...Throw magic bolts at d12>d8>d6 until they penetrate the victims resilience and then hit them with a d4>d4>d4 flesh to stone that costs the PC (or NPC) from 6 to 24 SP and stops the ...

Re: Permanent spell effects?
I like that the permanent Fog spell is a complete spell unto itself. I am not sure if the casting process might not become a little to complicated. Meaning that during game play, you now have another table you may have to consult and the GM is rolling twice against the caster. Though the way you have...
