Re: Alignment
Well I have a copy of Fiend shipping out. Gotta love some ebay. I actually missed the Amber series as well so I will have to check that out. The replies here have really helped to sort this out me and will go a long way in helping me sort it out for my players.

Re: Alignment
Thanks for the response Raven. I will put that one on my order list. I am slowing gathering a collection of Appendix N literature that I didn't have before and mining them for ideas. So what are other's definitions for law and chaos? I have always looked at it, on an individual character basis, as t...

So I know we are not supposed to think in terms of good and evil when we are looking at Law and Chaos. And looking at the law side of it I can see that easily from looking at the list of Cleric Gods. Klazath is a god you could probably consider a more evil war god, while Gorhan deals more in chivalr...

Re: Weapons Without Pluses
That sounds along the idea that I am interested in accomplishing. I think before I start adding in weapons that have a plus as well as something else that makes it more unique I may introduce weapons that are just finely crafted. Something that they could find in a dungeon or have a blacksmith make ...

Luck Check
So while reading The Emerald Enchanter I noticed a luck check. This is the basic check just like an Intelligence check where you roll and add or subtract your luck score correct? I ask because the luck check I recall from the main book has you rolling under the luck number but I think that is just f...

I like that. Fits the whole "don't say no, say yes, but...." that I like when I am playing.

Weapons Without Pluses
So I have read several posts where posters have talked about their dislike of weapons with +1, +2, etc....so they modify the damage instead. So a longsword does 2d4 instead of 1d8. I like this concept but I have a few questions. One, what about the -to hit bonus that would normally be attributed to ...

Re: Sword and board - Warrior style
I had forgotten that the basic rule of mighty deeds are to not do damage, normally. Which leans me to the two-handed weapon fighting. And while as I could give an either you bash or swing, and I might do that as they are training the skill up, I also look at other warriors, like vikings, who would p...

Sword and board - Warrior style
So dwarves automatically receive a shield bash if they are using one because the excel at this type of combat. I can already see my players looking at this and going I want to bash with my shield as well. And I have trouble saying no because it makes sense to me that if you have a shield in you hand...

Re: Limits on magical healing
One way I have thought to handle petrification type spells is to have them go into effect after a certain duration. Say six rounds. It starts at the feet, eliminating movement and slowly moves up each round. If they can kill the offending creature before it completely consumes the character then the...

Re: Reading the Elric books for the first time
It's been a while since I read it. I will have to pull that out and check. I actually found a novel of his the other day in a used bookstore of ours. Can't remember the name but it was an Egyptian themed story. It was a nice find, though I don't think he was the greatest writer. Also found a copy of...

Re: Reading the Elric books for the first time
Picked up a collection many a year a go published by White Wolf called Tales of the White Wolf. Has Elric stories by, among others, Tab Williams, Karl Edward Wagner, and Neil Gaiman. Big Gaiman fan here so I had to have the collection. Might be interesting for those who have read all the Moorcock bo...

Re: Free RPG day
Yeah I would love to support a brick and mortar store we just don't have any in the area that participate. If I knew someone close to a place that did I would have them pick it up for me.

Free RPG day
Wasn't sure of the proper forum to place this. Feel free to move it if it would better fit somewhere else. So, I see they made the announcement for material out on the free rpg day. And I would love to take part of that but I live nowhere near a participating store. Is this something that they post ...

Re: A few rules questions...
Thanks for the reply Raven. 2) For wizards and elves, an Intelligence check after study for at least 1 week per spell level, DC 10 + spell level. Failure means that you cannot try to learn the spell again this level. So for a first level spell roll a d20 adding Intelligence bonus aiming to get over ...

A few rules questions...
I am new to DCC and have been going through the book in preparation for running a game soon. Hoping to get a few clarifications on items I noticed during the readings I have made so far. 1) Spells....For mercurial magic systems we roll when they learn the spell to see how it manifests. Each spell al...
