Petrol Zombies

For those not on G+ So I saw this trailer this morning....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bESob6LPkA0 and in thinking about the teaser of vehicles for the next Crawling Under a Broken Moon the following was born: Petrol Zombies: Init -3; Atk bite+3 melee (1d4) or Petro-Vomit +2 (1d3 + poison); AC 9;...

Re: Level 1 player more deadly than 0 level play?

Where is the fun in playing in a rigged game? If that's what's needed to keep the game on track and the players interested, so be it. The players shouldn't know that the dice were fudged. Instead of a TPK and the end of the adventure, ignore that 20, let a PC escape with the possibility of returnin...

Re: Pathfinder/3.5 Conversions

Thanks for the info Aquebman. I actually did start going through the website looking at rules and such and finally decided why bother. I am not going to run a pathfinder game and what I have played I didn't enjoy. So instead of trying to get a really close conversion I decided to instead go with my ...

Re: Thoughts on digest reprints...

Ok, so here is my problem with stuff like this....I already bought Sailors and Frozen out of time. Is there going to be a way to get ahold of the new material without having to buy it again? An update to the pdfs would be great, though I would settle for a small pdf with the material in it for a buc...

Spell Database

I put this up on G+ the other day. Thought it might be useful here as well for those not on the G+. This is a list of all the spells from the Core book and other 3rd party publications that I own. It gives the spell name, the type (MU/Priest/Patron,) the book it appears in and any special notes, lik...

Re: Cleric Spells

I choose spells for them based on their gods. Sometimes I even give them from Wizard spell list, if it fits the deity. That's a cool idea. I like it. :D Just remember to keep the level in mind when doing this as a different level would mean you would have a minus (or possibly plus) due to level dif...

Re: DCC & Anomalous Subsurface Environment by Patrick Wetmor

Really like this idea of insanity and patrons. I recently picked up ASE as part of putting together a pulpy sci-fi setting. One idea I took from this was altering my clerics. As I am doing a society that is so far advanced it is magic - much like Numenera -- I wanted my classes to reflect more of a ...

Re: Who handles the tables?

I prefer to keep as many of the tables and rules out of the players hands as possible. I have a few printouts that I can give to players to keep track of their spells and their mighty deeds and such on. When they cast and get a '19' result for the first time they can then enter it into the sheet. Un...

Re: Weapons do D6/2D6

How about this? When using a melee or ranged weapon each class do the following damage plus applicable modifiers: Warriors and Dwarves: 1d8 Halfling, Theives, Clerics and Elves: 1d6 Wizards and 0-Level Characters: 1d4 I actually like this as a jumping off point. I do some weapon training and the on...

Re: Funnel For One

Thanks for the replies. I thought I might need to create something on my own, which I am fine doing, but I was curious if anyone had experiences converting over/running for solo that might be helpful. I will check out the purple duck mentioned as well. Again thanks for the replies.

Funnel For One

So I have a friend who is interested in trying a DCC funnel but due to time constraints and availability I would be would be running him though it solo. Has anyone had experience running a funnel for one person. I found a post over at Kickassistan that details half levels for solo funnels rather tha...

Re: 20's and 1's

So you could burn luck to avoid the fumble but not enough of it to actually hit instead of missing. That makes sense. As does the top end 20 always connecting. To hit say AC 23 when rolling a 19 then you would have to burn 4 luck points. What if its a warrior that has a lower crit range. A) Would yo...

20's and 1's

I used to run White Wolf back in the day. I ran a little bit of D'ND at times. Mostly a mix of 1 and 2e. I have never ran a game in which the AC increased rather than decreased. So the question I have is more for those creatures and such that end up with AC over 20. On those, 20 is not going to be a...

Re: Druid or Shaman

I'm not so sure that they really need to be codified as a class. A cleric worshipping a nature god or a tribal god could probably provide everything you would need as a class. Just work up your spells that the god gives. Maybe allow a few bonuses to skills that the God would grant in addition to spe...

Re: how do you handle casting in melee?

I think it would depend on the spell being cast and the initiative order. A spell like flaming hands that is instantaneous with a cast time of one action could be performed in melee if the caster has the initiative or isn't struck by the enemy in front of him before he can get the spell off. I would...

Dispel Magic

Curious as to how you handle Dispel Magic when it comes to caster's and their own spells. For instance, if a caster casts enlarge on himself, he is 3rd lvl so it would last about 30 mins. He does this in a fight that lasts 10 mins. After the fight, he needs to walk down the corridor but he is too ta...

Re: Pathfinder/3.5 Conversions

Nice ideas on the stat targeting, Doug. I will have to give that some consideration when I am designing / converting. Thanks, GnomeBoy. I have played 2 pathfinder game sessions. And run zero. There is just too much stat bloat for my taste. That and the whole we are all special so no one is special f...

Pathfinder/3.5 Conversions

I am looking to convert a few pathfinder baddies over to DCC. Most of my gamers are old school gamers with vast knowledge of the monster manuals from 1st and 2nd edition DnD. We never have strayed far from that and as such the newer versions of DND and Pathfinder are untapped for snagging monsters. ...
