fantasy earth

has anyone considered using/actually used dcc to run games set in some sort of pseudo-historical fantasy earth, like preferred lamentations of the flame princess setting?

Re: using luck for impossible results

i have been running dcc for about two and a half years now and can tell you that thieves and luck are anything but anticlimactic. just remember that low luck is really a serious issue in dcc. you are more likely to be the one that some random/area stuff happens to, unthinking monsters are more likel...

Can the thief spend Luck to boost his grapple to a level impossible for him? Similarly, a thief backstabs with a dagger and d...

Re: How to Handle Wilderness, Water, Rations, and Survival

Use Luck to abstract supplies... Some DCC GMs have used Luck to 'track' ammunition, as in "You've been firing a lot of arrows that were unrecoverable... Make a Luck check to see what you have left," the Luck check then saying "don't worry about it right now" or if the check is failed maybe roll a d...

Re: How to Handle Wilderness, Water, Rations, and Survival

i think that harley stroh has mentioned that there will be cannibalism rules in forthcoming journey to the center of aereth! also purple planet has some handy dandy charts and ideas for fighting (and losing to) elements. meanwhile i used this book for spicing up my hex crawls http://www.nocturnal-me...

also, core book is in its fourth printing. you can add to that three different collector cover editions (wizard, leather and easly). to me it seems that is doing quite good.

Re: Musings

I'll look into G+ but it's a little harder for me to find a group as I'm deaf, so video/voice games are not an option for me (yeah, it sucks). So I'm limited to a PbP format. I'd like to play a little, so how it all works before I start advertising on various boards as a GM with a game. I believe b...

Re: Timed Con Adventure Mechanics/Brainstorming

i had this idea for lotfp adventure contest that PCs are on a rescue/exploration mission in the ancient vampire town. so they have daylight hours to finish the task (find the missing child/grab the loot). i wanted to come with a mechanic that would advance the clock dependent on their in-game a acti...

Re: Alignment question

maybe this can help you http://jrients.blogspot.rs/2008/07/jeffs-threefold-apocalyptic-alignment.html also, if you can check out aleigance system in stormbringer and wfrp alignments. in many ways dcc is similar to some aspects of wfrp due to the strong moorcockian influence they share (law vs chaos,...

Re: Alignment question

i think that it is more moorcockian thing than morality issue. chaos and law are real sides in a very real conflict. it is not only about your worldview but about very real and objective allegiance to one side in the cosmic conflict. in a nutshell: are you with loki or with thor when gods go nuclear.
