Re: Horrible thing happened over at Brave Halfling Publishin

Yeah, I just saw that on a related thread. Maybe we can collaborate on something together as a DCC community to bring a bit of relief, I am just not sure what..

Re: Brave Halfling Publishing: Appendix N Adventures

Absolutely, please accept my condolences John and Family. I am the proud dad of 3 girls and have a boy on the way in June and so this one certainly hits home and puts a lump in my throat.. :( Since he will likely not be checking these forums anytime soon, is anyone close to the family? Is there some...

I haven't listened to your podcast, but I think you have one of the best looking logos...dwarven death-roller style!

Oh and are you a CA transplant? look at all those Flagship Games miniatures rules....

Re: How do you determine surprise?

RC, I totally try to use player attitudes as indicators for assuming how their characters are behaving to drive the story. I really think that throughout the course of playing, it should be clear if someone has the drop on their opponent. In the rare cases that it is not evident, roll a d6 as noted ...

Re: Any DCC adventures that have a LARGE city in them?

I think the best city resource right now in publication is "Vornheim". Check it out, you might only be able to get pdf versions at this point but not only does it give you rules for a detailed city but also how to make stuff up on the fly. The rules are generally aimed at OD&D but are ...

Re: Upcoming Modules for Transylvanian Adventures

I am glad you asked this question. I was just reading an old Dungeon magazine and was wondering how we could combine the creative forces of the DCC RPG third party into a single quarterly issue full of adventures and awesomeness? It wouldn't replace the existing publications, I just thought it would...

Sorry to be that guy, any update on shipping? I want to help you get over this hump as I feel passionate about supporting the Third party for DCC, but I'm not sure how. :?:

Re: House Rule: The Chase!

Yeah that was part of the setup, no chance to increase their lead without coming up with something creative. Basically the slavers are dark dwarves fashioned after those found in Moorcock's fiction and these ones are particularly mean. :P

House Rule: The Chase!

So this past week I ran DCC off the cuff as I had a bunch of players unable to attend our regularly scheduled session. Since I was pretty much making it up as we went I used a few resources that really helped (Dungeon Alphabet was great). As the characters pulled out of the "barn" were 1st...

House Rule: Using Tarot Cards

I was excited to see the cover of Fate's Fell Hand and it reminded me of one of the house rules I am using in my campaign... House Rules I am using for tarot cards during my DCC sessions At the beginning of each session, we each take a moment to shuffle the deck of tarot cards and then one is chosen...

Re: DCC Tarot Deck

House Rules I am using for tarot cards during my DCC sessions At the beginning of each session, we each take a moment to shuffle the deck of tarot cards and then one is chosen randomly by each player after everyone has shuffled. The card is read based on it's orientation (right side up or inversed) ...

Re: [Purple Duck Games] AL 4 - The Waystation

I am very excited about this location guys! As mentioned elsewhere on the board I am using the Isle of the Unknown hex crawl sandbox and now I am dying to have the statues on the island mark other waystations! Great stuff! Has Upan been developed with some specific patron bond results or disapproval...

Re: Isle of the Unknown Campaign Mapping

Vile was short and straightforward to run. after defeating the deranged woodsman, the worm and it's larvae and plundering some good loot, My PCs ended up fleeing the scene once the Eldritch Tree awoke and charmed another party member. They were able to incapacitate the charmed member and bolt from t...

Re: Isle of the Unknown Campaign Mapping

This past Friday we played the Vile Worm an Appendix N adventure toolkit by Brave Halfling Publishing and I think everyone had a fantastic time. Since the party waltzed out of the tower with tons of loot, I decided to implement the simple encumbrance system noted elsewhere here in the forums and the...

Re: When PCs die - how do you handle this?

I think that with the exception of some (awesome) "save or die" type circumstances, the mortality rate sees exponential decay from level to level. It really depends on what sorts of circumstances you are pitting your pc's up against and the choices they make.

Re: When PCs die - how do you handle this?

Also, if you look at Through the Cotillion of Hours ' "dream ghoul" encounter, you will note that the PCs are intended to recognize these ghouls as their fallen comrades, having a chance to find out how death is treating them in a social setting. You can do a lot of fun things with dead P...
