Re: Spell Checks as Save DCs
Rostranor, my players roll horribly. Hah, so even though we got a couple pretty awesome level-0 chars it just hasn't panned out for them after the fact like the case of the elf and rope work. We do have a really lucky (and agile) Halfling lucky charm that up until now has essentially just kept the p...

Re: 3pp Classes: Bard Q&A
I think it makes sense that a Cleric might require the use of a holy symbol for turning undead and a Bard may require the usage of his chosen instrument to get full effect. Maybe you drop a die on the scale or provide a minor modifier to performance (aka casting) without the preferred item. Of cours...

Re: Halflings and luck
Could this be in reference to the "Luck modifier" each character receives due to his birth augur during character creation? So other characters in the party can make use of the halflings augur as well as his burning luck ability. That's the way I interpreted it, at least.

Re: Magic Shield
P.S. in both cases, there is potential for permanent damage still as it's a 1d3 roll and this only protects 2 points worth >:)

Re: Magic Shield
Rules as written is my vote; it reduces "damage" by 2 regardless of type. It's also a pretty spectacular spell effect (32+).

Re: Solo Adventures?
I have used both Stormbringer(elric) and Tunnels & Trolls solo adventures with DCC and it works great. In most cases, it was me with one player, but all I did was read the sections and give him the options.

If someone has already mocked these bad boys up with the 6 equipment slot variant, please drop me a note with a link. Otherwise, I'd be willing to do it in a few days. ...just one of those house rules that I can't go without

Re: Advice on DCC Campaign - 1st to 2nd level, with Lizard-m
I know I am probably CFB (Chief Fan Boy) by now, but I highly recommend the Adventure Location (AL) series by purple duck games. The encounters are unique and the plot hooks are evocative. It's the sort of material that is dynamic and repeatable, it inspires other ideas to stitch them together. I al...

Feedback that can't get much more honest or earnest. I love it, thanks for sharing John. I am just now discovering the joys of gaming with my own kids (I handed them a "Dagger" recently)

Re: Free RPG Day 2013
I spent Free RPG Day enjoying my haul of goodies in the hospital with my Son born Friday :P When the extended family (the "Outlaws") came to siege our hospital room this morning and catch sight of the new arrival, I screeched my tires and made it over to Game Kastle's Fremont location to d...

I'm guessing it was an oversight as there are a few other authors of the "Lovecraft Circle" omitted from the list.

Re: WoW! Conan yes! This game looks sooo good!
I own the pdf copy of the boxed set and I am glad I do. I don't see myself running it anytime soon as DCC RPG is my goto game at the moment but I could see converting some of the modules to my DCC campaign. ASSH combined with Supplement V - Carcosa might be an interesting beast

Re: 77.5 Tower Out of Time
Has anyone else run or read Tower of the Stargazer by James Raggi? Am I the only one finding similarities? Don't get me wrong, I only mention it in context of how other Appendix N works carry similar themes to each other while varying in presentation but this module definitely fits into my campaign...

Re: Squid Sorcerer Sale!
For that Session I used: 1. The Long Sleep 2. Another Man's Treasure I didn't notice before, but they were both written by Ken Jelinek. Nice work Ken! I actually used Another Man's treasure as the primary module and used the long sleep in the course of their investigation as to what became of Krogan...

Re: Squid Sorcerer Sale!
In case you don't know, this book is full of great one shots and plot hooks for your DCC campaign. For a pickup game at KublaCon, I simply tied a couple of the short modules together and we had an awesome session. I ended up printing out my PDF but, boy this is tempting...

He is certainly a dubious character, I guess he might not meet the shining clerical persona referred to, but he is most certainly a "priest".

The dubious "Father Umphred" from Jack Vance's Lyonesse Trilogy comes to mind.

Re: What would the four 'core' appendix N classes be?
It seems like monk types and cultists were often referred to in Appendix N lit, couldn't the cleric essentially be the amalgam of those personas?
Honestly, you could go warrior/spellcaster if you wanted to pare down.

Re: Limited edition/availabilty
I can certainly empathize being someone eager to play the splotter-spellen games released at Spiel in Essen each year along with the ravensberger and Alea titles...it's not usually until right about now that we see the games from the previous October release, if they make it at all.

I dunno, I guess I feel like DCC steps above and beyond the living realms of other societies. I could see maybe a common dream realm
