Very cool! I am running the jewelry heist mod tonight for some folks using the pregens from FreeRPG Day. Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!finarvyn wrote:DCC #71 "The Thirteenth Skull" will have two one-shot adventures when it comes out, each designed to fit into roughly a 4-hour time slot.

Re: (BHP) Appendix N Adventure Toolkits KICKSTARTER IS LIVE!
Wow this link is cool, but also shows that it has really leveled off in the last 4 days. Not a surprise. I suspect that most projects get the most support early on and tail off with time. Eventually, most of the folks really interested have already kicked in their support. Sometimes there is a mad ...

Re: One Shots
I think I am tempted to run with this one for a one-shot. Something that runs in a 2-3 hours time frame would be nice for the moment.funkaoshi wrote:The jewelry heist module from Free RPG Day is pretty short. We played it in 2-3 hours. (Probably closer to 2 and a half.)

This is how I would do it as well.TheNobleDrake wrote:With no indication otherwise written into the book, I thought the intent was that unarmored meant unarmored whether it was a monster or not.
So the way I have been running it is that monsters roll 1d4 for fumbles.

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
You mean to tell me Goodman is not offering an official easy to purchase full set of the dice needed to play the game they just made? No one noticed this during the beta? This makes the game less exciting for me and I can't imagine trying to sell it to a player in the game store, "Here is your...

Re: One Shots
Great, thanks for the feedback. I've enjoyed the 0-level adventures I have played/dabbled with. They seem great for a one-shot. And folks are right, if it goes well and the players want more then moving on from there is easy enough.

Re: Wizards taking over
Awesome. Dice rolls in the open totally changed my game. When you roll privately there's this implicit statement that you're willing to fudge results to aid the players and/or the storyline. Rolling in the open is like wearing a loaded gun on your belt -- every player knows that this game can have ...

One Shots
What have people found working well for one shot games? The funnel has been great fun so far, but do people think it works well as a one shot? Or should I look at generating some 1st and 2nd level characters as pre-gens and running those as one shots? I figure some folks were running DCC for Free RP...

I put a post up at The Iron Tavern to help draw some more attention to this one. Hopefully it results in some increased pledges!

Re: More "crunchy" weapon rules?
I don't really think we need more crunchy weapon rules. It looks like Mighty Deeds are the answer here. Let the player come up with something that is cool for their weapon that they have learned from using their weapon of choice for a period of time. Sundering, tripping, disarming, knockbacks, etc a...

Re: Free RPG Day
I really don't think you could run that without the DCC RPG rulebook. Which is kind of odd for a special event book but ... hey it's fun and .... Isn't this true of several of the free RPG day materials? I haven't seen Paizo's module this year for Free RPG Day, but the ones I have run would require...

Re: Wizards taking over
I have to agree with some of the others. This looks like a house rule that is causing more trouble than the rules as written. Tweaking with the rules is fun, it is what us gamers do. But remember when things go wobbly it is sometimes because the rules have been tweaked a bit from original

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
For the Canadians in the audience: I've done quite a bit of research, and so far your best bet for dice is troll and toad. Unless you can get lucky on ebay. No Major Canadian web stores stock them at all. I am not Canadian, but I went with Troll and Toad to get my funky dice as well. I put some pic...

Re: Zocchi Dice Buyer's Guide
Purely subjective of course, but I love my Gamescience dice. It is pretty much all I roll anymore and have even separated them from the others I have. I've never sat down to do a dice roll off with them or anything, but they do tend to stay on the table better due to their sharper edges. I didn't fe...

Re: mercurial magic
There are a lot of ways for the dice to be cruel to you in DCC, and mercurial magic is one of them. I have to say, at this stage I think it is most fun to just go with it. Maybe it feels like a 'spell killer' to get the rain of frogs, but how about thinking of it as a 'scene maker'? I agree. Lots o...

Re: Will GG be at GenCon 2012?
Since I started going a few years ago, I think I've played in one official event (DCC this year will break that trend!). Most of my gaming I get through folks over at Circus Maximus with whom I happened to fall in with a few years back. Hey - that's some of the guys I am in games with as well this ...

I can work up a DCC themed kickstarter post for The Iron Tavern over the next couple of days. I have interest in seeing this one and the iPad app Purple Sorcerer is trying to get kickstarted succeed. Right now I like DCC just the way it is. I'll let you know how I feel in a year. Yeah - I like DCC the way it is. I can house rule or add in my own things for whatever niche I want to fill. I agree the avalanche of splat books for previous versions of D&D helped lead to their downward trend and...

Re: Will GG be at GenCon 2012?
I enjoy GenCon but my biggest gripe is that you have to buy a full ticket to go shopping. Usually I visit GenCon as a one-day hit-and-run from Chicago to Indy with my sister. We get up early in the AM, drive for 3 hours, wander the vendor area until she gets tired, then drive home late in the after...

Re: Free RPG Day - Pregens
Sorry if this has already been answered in another thread, but I couldn't find it. I'm running the 5th level module at Yottaquest in Cincinnati on the 16th, and I was wondering if I needed to go ahead and knock out some pregens, or if there were some 'official' ones already available. I can't comme...
