Re: ConstantCon on Google+
Those both look pretty cool. The Roll20 mapping is an especially nice feature. I polled a group of people who I had run for on both VTTs. They seemed to prefer Roll20 as well, though both have the occasional glitches. I think TTF will catch up now that their kickstart is complete, so I do keep a cl...

Re: ConstantCon on Google+
My main concern about a webcam is that I don't have a microphone, even. I figured that as long as I'm gonna get a mic, I might as well get a cam unit with a mic. I'll get something soon, though. I'd like to hear more about your one-shots. Did you like the interface? Any connection problems? How did...

Re: ConstantCon on Google+
I ran several one-shots of DCC RPG on Google+ Hangouts over the past two months. None of them were constantcon or Flailsnails games though. There is also http://www.ua-lc.com/ which puts up the occasional DCC RPG game as well. I am not sure how much I would worry about a good webcam. I know I wouldn...

Re: First time running DCC
Nice write-up! Sounds like you used several good strategies for handling the larger number of characters. I tend to do the group initiative thing as well. I need to get getter at using "ranks" for positioning. I feel like when the bad guys attack it is a little too random as to who actuall...

Re: What do you use for a campaign?
I have run several one-shots in the prior months to get used to the rules and try to figure out the power of characters at different levels. Last week I finally kicked off a campaign where we are starting with the 0-level funnel and then working our way up level by level. I chose to start in the Gre...

Well - it isn't until next June, but I think DCC RPG should be represented at Origins in Columbus, Ohio next year. I believe there was some off-the-books representation this year, but some official stuff would be great. Origins is big enough to have a lot of exposure to gamers, but small enough to h...

Re: Peer Review: Encumbrance Rules for DCC
The real question then isn't, "Do you like/use encumbrance rules?" Fair enough! I hope I didn't come across too negative. So - let me look at the rules a little closer. All comments based on read through, not actual play of course. The Base EV is 25 for Humans and Elves, 15 for Halflings ...

Re: Peer Review: Encumbrance Rules for DCC
It looks overly complex to me, but I might not be the target audience. I was quite happy to see that DCC RPG's encumbrance rules amounted to "use common sense". Luckily in the groups I play with this method works as we have the trust within the group to pull it off.

beermotor, you are right, maybe 30+ should spread its damage around a bit more! Maybe a few more tweaks and I will submit it to CRAWL!.

Re: So GG is not putting out more DCC rulebooks?
As for my players at the time, I encouraged them to keep things simple, and was blessed with players that weren't inclined to pull pieces from 18 different books when putting together a character. And what they did pull together seemed reasonable; a couple guys were perfectly happy with the PHB and...

Re: So GG is not putting out more DCC rulebooks?
PF has the opposite problem. As originally published it was a fine game in its way (by my lights; apologies to the many who differ), but its relentless rules expansions are killing it through bloat. Personally I refer to this problem as "Car Wars Syndrome", as this was one of the earliest...

Re: So GG is not putting out more DCC rulebooks?
I simply don't use them. I have only a small number of 3rd Edition books in light of what they put out. My rule of thumb for any given campaign/adventure-cycle is to use the three core books, and one other for extra 'flavor' -- if needed. This works great as an individual player, but when you bring...
