Re: DCC is DDNext

Don't even start with the art. I can go on for days on how the look of D&D has gone to s#!+. One of the reasons I can't stand Pathfinder either is the art. WotC and Paizo use the same fricking artists. It's hard to explain but their art reminds me of the 4e powers, uninspired & boring homog...

I think Sailors on the Starless Sea comes out with the street release of DCC RPG. Not sure about the others.

What about Tom Bombadil? He has the power to unmake the ring, yet he chooses not to? That's pretty decidedly neutral.

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!

Goodman Games is not the Post Office. They shipped it Media Mail, which has pretty tight restrictions about what can go through. Comparing them to Amazon and asking why they couldn't just ship like they do is pretty silly. Amazon is a multi-million dollar company. Goodman Games is a niche publisher ...

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!

Right, but it's not like Goodman Games intentionally sent him a dinged up copy. I'm sure they didn't. I can understand venting when anticipation levels are this high, but starting a topic for it is a little excessive when we already have a thread of people showcasing their books. But that's how he ...

Re: Books arrived...now I am pissed!

Hmm . . What is the mature way to handle this? A) Call/email CS and calmly tell them the problem and give them a chance to correct it, or B) get pissed and rant on the message boards? Some folk parted with a lot of money so they could own a nice ' limited edition'. The standard copy, is probably th...

Re: DCC is DDNext

I can't recall ever being this excited for a game in the recent past. I love gaming, and have done damn near every variety of it (video, computer, board, CCG, war), but never have I wanted to have my new books and dice so badly. I will most likely not see it until the end of this month. While I was ...

Critical Successes and Fumbles

Very quick question: when rolling action dice, is the lowest number always a fumble (1) and the highest a success (14, 16, 20 etc)?

The beta rules say a natural 20 is always a success, but mentions nothing of the other ployhedrals.

I'm tempted to say yes.

Re: DCC is DDNext

We will never see old school art in D&D again. WotC is marketing to a generation that's grown up on magic cards illustrated on a computer. Pathfinder is marketing to a generation fed up with WotC.

Re: What do you have in minds for your players?

I'm getting there. I just had this idea like three seconds ago. All I know is that the Wizard is using the worm (who is very much still alive) as protection from the elements outside. Yes, it's big enough to fit a whole town inside (and many dungeons).

Re: What do you have in minds for your players?

I just had an explosion of an idea for a campaign. Basically, the players are born in the belly of some horrid beast, like a Purple Worm. They toil their lives away nourishing worm's organs by hunting the parasites in its intestines, harvesting the flora growing on the walls, and through blood sacri...

They do not. I LOVE the the look of the opaque sets. Gem dice are not really my thing, so I tried to match them as close as possible.

Re: Long-Term DCC Play

I'm not sure I understand this complaint. Is it because there is a real chance of death in a campaign? Nobody likes losing a character to a bad dice roll, but if there is no risk then why even bother? Sometimes you succeed and sometimes you fail. More importantly, how is finishing a campaign any dif...

Re: DCC is DDNext

We don't need to turn this into an edition wars thread, since, from the looks of it, we're all converts or soon to be.

That being said, the DCC RPG does seem like it's beating WotC to the punch. All that means is we get to have our fun sooner than later.

Pretty much anything cast from a mold that you'd like to apply pigment to needs to be washed. Miniatures, dice, sculptures, etc.

That's a great idea!

The meteor in my game is actually a planar spaceship type thing. The dungeon is going to be the wreckage.

Meteor crash...hmm For some reason I can now picture a load of pitchfork wielding villagers fighting giants killer bugs like in the film Starship Troopers. Gruesome. :D Yeah, my plan is to have the players roll 4 0-levels apiece. They are the only ones left in the village. For some reason, all of m...

Re: What do you have in minds for your players?

DCC RPG isn't going to be my main system for a while. We just started Burning Wheel and will probably play that through the summer. However, I know my group is interested in doing some dungeons crawls in between, because our BW campaign is all RP, for the most part. The first 0-level adventure I hav...
