I would rather just have the image from the LE foil cover, honestly.

Re: Extra occupation as a racial trait?

If they have a second occupation they should get skills and equipment to match it, especially if it's the only racial trait.

Re: Appendix N Comic Books

The Creepy/Eerie archives are much better than EC, in my opinion. Better art, more complex stories (I found ECs stories to be a little too formulaic).

Weapons are pretty easy to homebrew in this game. One of my players has a Greatbow, which deals 1d8 worth of damage. Heavy Flails require two hands but do 1d8 damage, etc.

You can read full rules at http://earthlightacademy.blogspot.com/2012/08/minor-magic-item-asmodeus-coin.html . Um - I, for one, would never use an item called Asmodeus' ___insert_the_name_of_anything_but_"arrow_of_always_hitting_and_slaying_utterly"____. That's just asking for trouble. Hahaha, sure...

Re: Skill checks involving multiple characters

Hmmm, good idea, but I think I'll save my Crawl submissions for something bigger. I'm pretty involved in this once game I'm running, which is making it hard to get these other projects done, but I have new patrons, classes, and mechanics in the works.

This will, however, go on my blog.

Re: Skill checks involving multiple characters

I have my players declare whether or not they are in primary or support roles. The one who is primary rolls a d20 normally. Anyone in a support rolls 1d20 and their result determines how much help they provide as follows: 1: -2 to check 5: +1 to check 10 +2 to check 15: +3 to check 20: +4 to check ...

Re: List of GG products for DCC RPG

Unless there are delays, I'm guessing Emrikol Was Framed! is out this week, as October begins next week.

The Compleat Strategist usually gets this stuff very early.

Edit: I was wrong. Next week it is!

GMG5070W, 480 pages, hardcover, $59.99 Pre-order now!

Is the 50% hike in price because of the pre-order or is the rulebook going to cost more?
I think it's because it's a LE cover and will come with some little extra.

Re: distribution of magic weapons

My current group just finished its 7th session, are level 3, and have a grand total of three magic items. My players almost never use them, and none of them are weapons. In total they have: A magical/cursed coin that aids/hinders the success of any action 1/day depending in what face it lands on A m...

I would be interested. I love all the home brewin I get to do for this game, but magic, in my opinion, is the most intensive stuff to do, so having a reference guide from which to draw I spiration would be great.

I foresee another DCC Kickstarter in the future.

Re: Wizards who never cast spells

It does not say, "Track your luck modifier if the score changes." I understand you could arrive at that through some implications, but you are wrong to think that it says that. Those words are not there.

Besides, I thought the point of this topic was to offer solutions. That was my version.

Re: Wizards who never cast spells

It doesn't actually say that you're supposed to track the luck modifier on page 19.

But you're right, these games are all meant to be played rules-as-written, no houserules ever.

Re: Wizards who never cast spells

I think the issue is that you're tracking modifiers for spellburn. It's too much work, and leads to the kind of situation you're in now. It's much easier, in my opinion, to just add/subtract those rolls yourself. I don't bother with this most of the time, until we get down into 3-5 range. Otherwise,...

Re: Race separate from Class

My most recent blog post is about this topic. I too wrinkled my nose at the concept of race as class when I first saw DCC RPG. After playing it, I realized this implication is a mainstay of pulp fantasy, whereas other games that allow any mixture is high fantasy. In high fantasy, the racial archetyp...
