IMHO, yes.
The purpose of calling out when modifiers do not change is, I believe, the assumption that they otherwise do.

Re: Two weapon fighting backstab
Now that I think about it, this situation has come up and the way I ran it is that you can only roll 1 crit die, even if both attacks hit. The weapon damage bonus if using an appropriate weapon still applies, but that felt like a good middle ground. If the Thief was higher level and had 2 action di...

Re: What am I missing about Find Familiar?
I see. The 4th printing spell description reads: This lengthy ritual prepares the caster to bond with a familiar. The familiar makes itself known during the ceremony 50% of the time; otherwise, the caster makes its acquaintance sometime in the weeks following the ritual. The spell check is made upon...

Re: Two weapon fighting backstab
I would run it that you can Backstab with two weapons. Rolling a d16 as an attack puts you at a pretty big disadvantage as the average roll is 9, which is under most ACs. It can obviously be juiced up with Luck easily enough but that's a lot of resources going into a single attack: a round to get i...

As a general rule, the higher you roll, the more powerful the familiar.
However, alignment has an effect on what you get.....or, rather, what gets you.

Do whatever best makes the monster work for you. That can be an emulation of a PC ability, such as a Mighty Deed, or something completely our of your head. At the end of the day, what works for you is the only thing that is important. In terms of making DCC monsters, this may help: https://ravencrow...

In relation to the Man in the Green Velvet Coat, since he's immortal and is fond of humanoids but doesn't see them as intelligent, they are 'pets' in the same way as some folks consider their dogs and cats. https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/151691/Patrons-Extraordinary-The-Unpretty-Preview-DCC-R...

Find art you prefer. Print it on fairly thick paper or tab stock, at a size that matches the images you find offensive. Then, image by image, replace the art. Well, that's clever and kind. Plus much, much better than post-its. Thank you for the actionable, effective idea. You are very welcome!

brief update: first session, with lots of yeti, went well! This was my "session 0" + intro to adventure. I clearly have a lot to learn, so that's humbling! and the players had a good time with the yeti + went gloriously off-script. I had to call a bio-break and brainstorm with mu husband,...

Re: On shamans...
hey that looks great...but still dont answer my burning question...how does one compute the roll need on the patron id bond? i looked into dcc's clerics and it shows a d20+level+personality(i think that was it) is that done the same way here? By the core, I don't think there are mods. But you may w...

Ok ive read the thread *are shamans even playable* im totally confused by this. I know they are spose to get artifacts to balance it out...but um, why play one if you can't shaman. If you follow me here, the whole point of playing one is to be a spell casting shaman and yet..you can almost do squat...

Have you considered just converting 5e modules to DCC then? It is pretty easy to do.

Re: keeping character generation session fun on Zoom
The answer to all of your questions, in my experience, is found in the funnel. That is the Session 0, with the goal of establishing who the PCs will be. What the world is? They know only their village and the menace they just faced. The funnel is a zippy and engaging form of generating the final par...
