Re: What other Appendix N inspired settings would you like to see?

Agree about Hiero.

I would like to see Pellucidar and Witch World. Although I don't expect that they will ever be covered officially (because the licensing fees would be steep), Middle Earth and REH's Hyperborea would also be high on my list.

Re: Any tips for running public games?

I wrote a couple of blog posts that might be of use: https://ravencrowking.blogspot.com/2018/07/running-convention-games.html Less useful perhaps: https://ravencrowking.blogspot.com/2019/08/advice-for-beginning-judges.html Both these are very helpful, thank you! In the first blog its mentioned that...

You can also have more than one patron, which could lead to...interesting conflicts in the game.

I admit that I wrote this spell with a great deal of glee.

Re: Holiday Adventure Module Idea

I really like the holiday modules I've seen so far for DCC and it occurred to me this morning that "The Nutcracker" could make a fun holiday adventure. The original story, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King is a bit darker and more involved than the ballet and features a seven-headed mouse...

I would personally count a failure towards disapproval, as the cleric is making a spell check, but otherwise I would agree.

I can never guess what is going to happen, even if I have run the same basic adventure dozens of times before.

Re: Tips for thieves

My players are at level 4, and the wizard and warrior are both getting nicely into their classes and holding their own. However my thief player is getting a litte frustrated at being weak in combat and not really getting a chance to show off his uniqueness beyond checking for and removing traps and...

I tend to use pregens, but I have no problem with a player bringing a character to the table. Magic items may, or may not, work the way that player anticipates.

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles

As a 3rd level wizard with an intelligence of 13, he only needs to roll an 8 to blind the target if it fails a save, and a 14 to knock it unconscious if it fails 2 saves. Since the target has to make a save with a DC equal to the spell roll, the blinding save is at least a 20, which is tough to mak...

Re: Color Spray spell keeps winning battles

I seem to be in this situation where one of my players keeps using Color Spray to devastating effect. Everytime there's a Big Bad, he casts the spell, gets them unconscious, and bang, that's it, end of what would have been big interesting battle. Anyone else come across this problem? I know DCC is ...

Re: Adjusting dice chain

I was not intending on adjusting the NPC/Monster's action die, only PCs. But after reading responses, I don't think it is practical. Right now there is DCC Lankhmar and DCC Empire of the East is very close to being available. DCC Dying Earth is within sight. If you wanted to do a DCC Cthulhu Mythos...

Re: Adjusting dice chain

Have you tried a funnel with 0-level characters? It's a really interesting experiment especially players who are used to D&D. It has so many advantages but the main ones are: - Breaking the mold of previous RPGs (D&D). - It's easy to learn the game since you aren't using all the character a...

Re: Adjusting dice chain

I would personally avoid doing something like that. While DCC doesn't follow the same kind of math as Pathfinder of WotC-era D&D, you would still be making those higher-HD monsters a lot tougher. The PCs hit less often, and need to do more damage. Combat would become a sort of slog. Remember tha...
