Hmm, not familiar with that con, being on the left coast as I am....

...so my question would be, if Mr. G goes to the D&D Experience, does that mean he'll be skipping DunDraCon?

Besides, its a good idead to make people who can snap your spine with their pinky feel loved, admired, and needed. Helps keep them from hurting you. Maybe that should read: I, dead. And it might have been a glimpse of things to come for Treebore if he ever shows up at Winter Fantasy... ...

Going from memory, you earn 1000 XP to get to 1st level and proceed normally from there, i.e. as if you had 0 xp, earning another 1000 to get to 2nd, +2000 more to get to 3rd... etc. The NPC level is essentially a free bonus level. All 'normal' leveling is normal. Or whatever passes for normal with ...

Re: The Blackguard's Revenge - am I missing something?

A group of 4-6 PCs of 9th-11th level is gonna clear through 2 Mohrgs, 16 Heretics, and 12 Wights in less than 10 rounds no matter how you play it. I haven't played through it nor run it, but I have read the module -- I think it is assumed that at least some of the party will be affected by the drai...

Re: Storytelling: What inspires you?

Y'know, I feel for you on so many of these points, I can't figure out how to respond -- but I want to respond because I often feel exactly the same! I've rarely had my home groups get as excited about my adventures as I. Not to say they didn't have fun, or enjoy the thing, but stuff that had the top...

It predates the "red" boxed set by a few printings - it features fantastic cover art by Erol Otus, and was indeed written by the late Tom Moldvay. I think it's probably the best version of the D&D Basic rules out there. I started with the version edited by J. Eric Holmes.... http://ww...

I don't necessarily agree with the prevailing opinion that the "classic" modules were actually all that GOOD (blasphemy, I know), but I do think they were FUN. I know exactly what you're saying, but I don't think I'd go so far as to say they aren't good. What they lacked in logic, they mo...

I think it's possible that a 4e would not be a radical departure from 3.x, just as 1e and 2e were compatable (I've never done a real comparison, having played 1e in the 70s and 2e in the 90s, but I've seen convention games listed with 1st/2nd AD&D in the System line). At least I never noticed an...

I, too, never felt much enthusiasm for psionics in D&D. A 'mind trip' DCC would be cool -- something that could work for the psionics fans, but could also be played without emphasis on psionics rules (which I don't own) i.e. any relevant psionics rules are in sidebars or statblocks or an appendi...

The module must be able to be completed in a 4 hour window. A GM can potentially run two modules; one in the morning, one in the afternoon. In Feb 2006, I had the pleasure of playing through Iron Crypt of the Heritics in what was meant to be a four hour slot. When the game following us didn't mater...

For all intents and purposes, DR X/magic and DR X/+1 are more or less the same thing. IIRC there are effects that make a weapon or an attack 'magical' without there being a +1, or +2 or whatever. I don't have a DMG with me at the moment, but I think for example you could have a flaming weapon that ...

I'm hoping that the writers get together and rally for the next season. I think mid-season was a high for the show so far - the characters deepened and the plot got more complex but was still understandable. Toward the end it felt rushed, like a first draft that made it to screen. I get the feeling...
