Re: The Portal Under The Stars - Need some advice
You could have not gone into initiative, and just given enough time for each player to 'initiate' about 5 things before the fire erupted again... Personally, if I had players run in different directions like that and go all the way into those other spaces, I'd have kept the initiative rolls, but foc...

Re: The extremity of the DCC Luck Check
(Can I just comment I have never suggested to move any goal posts. Are you perhaps thinking of a statement posted by someone else? Going to skip that bit.) That's not a chastisement in any form -- I'm just laying out the example. And the Dice Chain is a major feature of the game -- it can be used w...

Re: The extremity of the DCC Luck Check
...why should Luck function so differently from other stats? It's conceptually different. Other stats are tied to... what should we call it? genetics? training? experience? ...it's all within the character, so to speak. Luck however is your position within the whims of the universe, your up to the ...

Re: the Portal under the stars
I don't think there has been a direct sequel to Portal published by Goodman Games. I know there have been fan-made follow-up adventures, one of which is in the Gongfarmer's Almanac from 2016 (IIRC), which is free in PDF. https://gongfarmersalmanac.com/ Part of the game's ethos is one of DIY, so I th...

Shelf File is about to happen -- maybe the surveys will go out this month or top of January.
One or two of those others should be launching their surveys soon, too.

Re: Stomp the typo / Errata & FAQ
The 9th Printing has just been released (yesterday). The text is updated there. The cover you describe with the figure seen from the back, looking toward a door with a face on it is the standard cover, seen on every print run from the first. So that cover alone will not tell anyone which printing th...

I hate to say it, but you'll find the reference to Luck is no longer a part of the book. It now says "and there may be other modifiers".
It really was meant to refer to the Luck modifier from the Birth Augur chart.

Re: Suggestions for Frazettian Sword & Sorcery DCC modules
If memory serves, it's not that Broegan can't save his daughter -- it's that everyone has agreed to the lottery system that's in place to try to limit the damage the Hound is doing. Without it, it was showing up more often and killing multiple people each time. It's a stop-gap tactic at best, but it...

...an attack aimed at disarming... It would not be an attack to disarm -- it's an attack AND an attempt to disarm. Deeds are always in addition to the attack. Classes without Deeds can attack with the aim to disarm, but do no damage even if they succeed. It's part of what makes Warriors and Dwarfs ...

Exactly -- gave them a chance, because it's not always easy to be 100% sure it's a spammer. I've deleted hundreds of obvious spammers, and occasionally there's someone I'm giving the benefit of the doubt because they *could be* genuine.

Re: Weapon Damage and Deed Die - Help Reading a Pregen Sheet
I strongly suspect the "=" is a typo, as you say. And the asterisk is maybe a typo, but it's repeated for two weapons and on the shield and AC, as well... makes me wonder if there was some element of the character which was edited out, but the asterisks remain... Yep -- mentioning the Deed...

Bend the adventures into what you need...
The Beowolf riff just needs a crueler Jarl and a more arid setting. A 'wet' monster becomes a 'sandy' monster. The sinkhole being supernatural can remain the same, or you can change the adjectives there, too. No numbers need to change.

...and how only Warriors can do Pushback Deeds and similar. For clarity, I'll point out that Deeds are things done along with attacks -- but they don't necessarily involve doing things that others can't do. Other Classes can attempt to disarm opponents, do a pushback, etc. They just have to do them...
